OMG I want that Shetland

The horses all look like they hate him. At first I thought it was just them hating being so close to each other, but I'm sure they've all been prodded with those sticks enough times...

[/ QUOTE ]

It was amazing when I first saw it in 1999, but I see it several times a year. We could do with a new equine performance to go around the shows.

If those horses were not happy they would not be doing what they are doing. He is a true horseman and his horses love and totally trust him. No saddle, no bridle just trust and patient training.

No of course not, horses never do anything they don't want to do.......how completely untrue!

If we want a horse to do something, they dont want to, we make them do.

for example out hacking and we find a scary plastic bags in the bush( horse hates it, backs up, ect ect.) out of principal we will keep trying and not give in untill the horse does as asked and goes past it.

maybe not the best example but havent we all done it?, thats a horse not wanting to do something and then we make it do as asked isnt that training a horse?

(maybe this sound too contraversial)
*me tiptoes away*

Well said.Name anyone else that can do that??

Does anyone know if he has a book out? Him and his horses are truely spectacular and make me teary when ever I watch them.

[/ QUOTE ]

The BBC commentator mentioned a book - it's called The Path to Liberty. Just googled and you can get it from his website at www.jfpignon.com

Isn't it different though when we are sat on or leading a horse? His horses had that whole arena they could have galloped around but they didn't, they CHOOSE to be with him through respect.

My point exactly - but much better explained!

OR they went with him because they knew if they didn't then they'd get a smack

I have no ideaa how he trains his horses, I'm just commenting that they never look very happy. They must have very long travelling schedules though, all around the world, especially during the summer. I'd look grumpy too

But they wouldn't get a smack if they were the other side of an arena, we all know that punishment means nothing to a horse if given 5 minutes after the bad behavior.

What he did is a lot different to getting a horse to walk past a spooky plastic bag!

FFS - we now have a break of 15 minutes where there is naff all going on, could they not have shown the M+M Championship held today, or the Veteran Championship held yesterday in this break? Or are the highly prestigious national finals for showing not as important as the incredibly dull dressage or repetitive showjumping, or even some boring man with his white horses?

Makes me mad that they'll show everything else but not the showing, which plays such a massive part in Olympia and in so many peoples lives. Same with HOYS.
