olympia is starting!

But they wouldn't get a smack if they were the other side of an arena, we all know that punishment means nothing to a horse if given 5 minutes after the bad behavior.

What he did is a lot different to getting a horse to walk past a spooky plastic bag!

I'm sure he'll have a whole team of people at home to 'help' him in their training. It'll be very, very well rehersed.

FFS - we now have a break of 15 minutes where there is naff all going on, could they not have shown the M+M Championship held today, or the Veteran Championship held yesterday in this break? Or are the highly prestigious national finals for showing not as important as the incredibly dull dressage or repetitive showjumping, or even some boring man with his white horses?

Makes me mad that they'll show everything else but not the showing, which plays such a massive part in Olympia and in so many peoples lives. Same with HOYS.

I must say I agree, I used to show when I was younger and would like to take it up again but all in all I do prefer dressage and would choose to see it over showing 9 times out of 10 however it would be nice for them to show classes that do not get any coverage on the tv, might be nice for the non horsey audience as well to see a different ridden class.
It is a shame that the showing doesn't get much media attention and I can understand the frustration you have against them not showing the classes in the break. Even the highlights would be better than nothing.

I wouldn't expect them to show the full classes (I'm the first to admit that to an untrained eye, showing is boring) but the highlights would be great. Perhaps the go round and then the final placings, the lap of honour - why do they chose to show NOTHING over the showing?! Nothing is far more boring than showing! I can understand if they don't have room in the schedule as it could be seen as boring, but here is a 15 minute break - couldn't they honour the fantastic achievements of those who were placed this weekend by giving them some coverage?!

Maybe the highlights of the whole show would be a good idea

I'm quite relived (literally

I agree with you. I think it is unfair for it to not be shown in case it is classed as boring, yes to some it might be but other disciplines are boring to others. You cannot please everyone granted but it would be nice if they included it (or as you said the highlights of the placements - promote the dicipline, the riders, the studs, produces, etc). That way it may please a few more people. As the other displays and classes no-one is forced to watch. It might educate a few non horsey people that there are more disciplines out there than the main 3!

HERE HERE.

I hate dressage. But I watched it hoping to learn something. If I was that bored I'd have just turned off.

Just wish the BBC/Sky would listen.

Exactly now I love dressage but my non horsey OH hates it and is more inclined to watch the SJ over the DR or XC over the SJ. Just because showing isn't in the spotlight in regards to general population interest doesn't mean they shouldn't get a little bit of credit even if it means it is only slipped in where they would normally play nothing.

What a silly comment. I am sure if you wanted to you would be able to visit his yard and watch his training methods.

Before you malign people like this you should make yourself aware of the true facts.
