I get that but Oli withdrew ages ago- so long to add a replacement, odd to give Ros a third and odd timing when actual selection announcement is imminent.
 
Back on dressage team, given Annabella and Gio are selected for the under 25 European team also happening at end of July and I think we can safely say they are not in the elusive r4th reserve spot for Olympics

Not really. They have added Ros’s 3rd to the list they have given the olympics. If they hadn’t announced Oli’s replacement people would wonder.

The announcement of the final 4 is not set in stone until they arrive onsite for the olympics.
Its more a “if everyone is fit and well” these are the 4 we are taking.
We all know how much can go wrong in a month with horses.
The 12 is set in stone and any substitution has to come from that list.
 
One rider and 3 horses - this is quite risky. What happens if this rider breaks an arm or is ill and unfit to ride? It cuts down the number of riders eligible to 8. The other 7 are still strong candidates but even so.....
 
I suspect the reason for Ros being nominated on a 3rd is because Isaac isn’t a realistic chance anymore after his 2 down last week (you may have taken a risk on him post-Badminton as most of the rest of the form is brilliant)
 
I'd have taken Kitty over Laura but equally have no experience as a selector!
And I admit some of that is gut/prejudice as well as form!
 
I suspect Tom will be reserve as he is a very laid back character plus done one Olympics so knows the drill.
 
I also feel gutted for Kitty, but my goodness it much be so difficult to be a selector when there are so many extremely strong candidates.

Delighted for Becky and the dressage team, although that would have been a much more straightforward selection.
 
I’ve just seen the photo of the whole Equestrian team in their kit. They do look orange (they could join in with the Dutch football fans doing their street dance!). They also look so young! Apart from Carl and Charlotte they all look like I’m old enough to be their mother!
