I've just spotted Emily King has been named on the team for Aachen in a fortnight's time, so presumably that means she is a definite 'no' for Paris?
Itching to find out and I'm just an armchair spectator... imagine what it must be like waiting to hear as a rider?!?!

Not sure we can compare Tokyo results to this year (London52). Paris is up the road in comparison to the journey to Japan.

Not sure anyone is thinking about Tokyo? I’m thinking more that London 52 has xc pens at the last two champs (Worlds and Euros), and remain unconvinced about his Badminton win.

I’m going to nail colours to mast and go for Ros, Kitty, Yas, with Tom as first reserve.

Laura just posted a video of her cantering London so clearly he’s back at it, I guess she must know either way by now.
 
Yep they have all been told. They can’t release it all after the shit storm of Tokyo where it went legal with the sjers. Emily Moffitts father was very disgruntled she wasn’t selected but it came down to veterinary. So now they are told privately a week before.

Laura Collett is also on the Aachen team riding Dacapo. Do you think they would put her on THAT team if she was going to the Olympics? Would they be worried about putting her at risk of a possible injury in the run up to the games?
 
what happens if a horse and rider have been selected but beforehand (as in before travel) they are injured and out? Does the reserve then get replaced with another reserve to travel to Paris?

Yes, there’s a first reserve, second reserve etc, because they can be subbed in at any time under the Olympic rules so have to travel. Might even have to trot up, can’t remember.

If I remember rightly Piggy withdrew from the reserve slot for Tokyo because they felt travel vs likelihood of not getting a run wasn’t the best thing for the horse, so Ros ended up going.

So more than one reserve could travel!? Or the second reserve has to be subbed in before travel?

Only one will travel, but say for argument’s sake they name Laura at first reserve, and Tom as second reserve. If Laura was to withdraw, Tom would travel in her place.

Once the event starts post trot up, a reserve can be subbed into the team to replace whoever’s broken, but it comes with penalties.

What happens if your reserve gets injured on the journey I don’t know!
 
Been doing some searching and have noticed Capels Hollow Drift, Cooley Rosalent and Vendredi Biats are all entered for Upton House in the OI. Vendredi Biats is also entered in the Olympic horses section at Aston too, as the only Brit long listed rider so far.

ETS: Olympic section at Aston is only a week before the Games start, seems a little late to be running horses risk wise, no?

It will run as combined training with a crowd to watch

She could do the entire eventing team herself with her wonderful string of horses! Can’t be many other riders in the world lucky enough to have 3 possible Olympic rides 😀

I thought this. I wonder if there is a problem with Walter and they feel like Izilot needs more experience before the atmosphere of an olympics after 2 SJ down last week.

There’s a final deadline for ensuring you have a list of 12. One assumes from adding another horse for Ros is that there is a query somewhere horse wise, but they want her on the team.

There’s been no formal announcement of a date as to when the team is announced.

Today is the deadline for them to submit 12 names to the olympic orgaanisers. I believe it will be shortened closer to the time as we still have a month and we all know with horses anything can happen.
The names going have to be from that list submitted

Do you think out of the strong contenders of Walter, froggy, banzai, London, dubs that maybe more than one have gone wrong based on that?

Actually I got my Astons mixed up - the Olympic section is next week, not the week before the Games, and Kitty’s still the only long listed Brit entered.
