Crap results.
Andrew has just two horses eventing and has made a conscious decision to choose soft competitions for Vassily and its bitten him on the arse when he picked up a 20 and a frangible pin.
I don’t know what will happen now because he barely competes the horse between championships.

Yeah was wondering if there were questions with soundness due to how lightly he was competing him, or he just thought he could wrap him in cotton wool again and still be selected? Will be sad not to see them both as they are amazing. Happy to see Chris Burton back to eventing though- is he “back” back or just back for olympics?
 
I’ve seen that Harry fell and has two fractures to his wrist and arm at Aachen yesterday. Apparently still intending to go to Paris but can he be replaced now he’s been named? Or does he have to go and will this now confirm him as the reserve?

Eventing geeks please correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt this what happened at the Worlds in Pratoni? Yaz was left off the team, rode as an individual and won the World Championship? I know the Olympics are different with the three person team, so the reserve doesnt ride at all, but I'd have thought Pratoni should have warned of the danger of leaving her off the team.

That's exactly what happened. Meanwhile one of the team had 20 pens around a twisty course, who happens to be on the Paris 2024 team for another twisty course...

Yas as an individual had no pressure. She was then part of the euros team and had a stupid 20 she shouldn’t have had. I appreciate she has won a lot since and under some pressure to do well but they have chosen Laura and Tom I guess as much more experience under this kind of pressure. Been there and got the t.shirt.
 
I did suspect Yas would be the reserve, am sad not to see her and Banzai, but I couldn't see the selectors leaving out either Laura or Tom instead given their previous Olympic experience, think Ros's place was nailed on from the start. I just don't see L52 getting an ind. medal somehow, the other 2 yes. Hope I'm wrong and GB are 1,2,3 :)

Yes, I appreciate the difference in pressure between riding as an individual/part of a team, but I meant other factors that the general public are unaware of, as I'm sure there are many. As far as I see it, because the eventers are so strong there must be a lot of them who meet the criteria for selection, so I'm sure many other factors come into play.

I'm very glad I'm not a selector and I wish the team the very best of luck.
