 how is it august on the weekend?!

who has plans?

I haven't :p though I have got a bit of cash in my pocket after a week long ebayathon so I'll probably take Darcy somewhere.

Have fun all

bit of Hera-spam to kick off

I went to some mid-week BS yesterday so horse is just doing some fitness work this weekend (first event is in 2 weeks ?). I have sat back on the 3 year olds this week so more of that, hopefully can borrow someone to escort me on a little hack.

Plan to ride both horses early tomorrow morning due to the heat. Saturday I’m fence judging at the local XC course. Going to be odd as there will be no spectators present, score sheets being collected and sacre bleu no refreshment car with afternoon tiffin. If they are short of volunteers I will repeat on Sunday.

Yay, I can join in again!

Just come back from a jolly pole work clinic, hacking tomorrow, pole work clinic at a different venue on Saturday and a test riding clinic for dressage on Sunday.

Proper dressage lesson on Wednesday too :-o

I don't feel at all guilty for all those clinics, she is fit enough and I don't push hard. She can have Monday off and a hack on Tuesday.

After so long doing nothing except hacking on lockdown, it is nice to go out and be social again!

Just had a lesson, kept it fairly low key though as need horse to save his energy for the weekend, because........

WE* ARE GOING EVENTING!!!

*I am the groom not the rider ?

OH has entered his first EI, very exciting, slightly nerve wracking too ? I think he is well prepared though - he’s been out schooling plenty, and the date suited so off we go. So excited!

My main horse has been off games for a few weeks, had a 10 day trial of bute was completely sound on the bute and then the lameness came back once off. So vet clinic booked for tomorrow for the horse to suddenly have become sound ?‍♀️. So will now give some gentle work and see if it comes back or not! First time she has been lame in 12 years too!

Excitingly my 2.5 year old is coming down from the hills to me in flat Cambs to start her learning :)

Mp Hera looks to have the mpves!
Roxylola, Nov 28 is my fav, it's nov 30 I avoid! Not that I've been out recently. Good luck
Shortstuff, fingers crossed for you.
Wednesday I had a lesson and rose went really nicely, Today we hacked out on TROT, I look forward to doing this now and Rose has been ace. so pleased I gave it a go. Tomorrow we are doing poles, Saturday I have a lesson with a trainer I know very well whom I've not been to since I bought Rose and Sunday Rose will probably have the day off as on Monday I am back at AM Dressage but I may hack with a friend. Still busy but she'll have Tues/Wed off although on Wed we have to go up to my saddlers to get her saddles sorted.

A full weekend of fence judging at Cholmondeley. Woo hoo!!! I cannot wait. We haven’t done any since Kelsall last September (I think - feels about 6 years ago!) and I’ve missed it so much.

Shall report back about what it’s like in this weird new world. I’ve watched the briefing video on YouTube and particularly enjoyed the TA in full eventing kit on his horse to demonstrate safe whip usage ?

I was meant to be taking Blue to the beach for my birthday, but my horsebox has decided I haven't spent enough money on it so it wants a new gearbox. Bah. So instead I'll be going along with a couple of friends to take photos. (One friend very generously offered me his spot in their hired transport, but Blue weighs too much. Bloody tank.)

Yesterday Henry had physio after I realised his saddle needed to be refitted which happened Tuesday. He went out 2 gullet sizes and is hopefully now much comfier!

Today we have a jumping lesson before he gets a bath in preparation for the weekend.

This weekend we are going EVENTING! So excited, it's our first time out since November last year. It's our first 80 and we feel very prepared. Just have to make sure I engage my brain before I hop on and ride the horse I have on the day. It's going to be good weather though and it will be fun no matter what happens!

Good luck all, have fun.

Getting my new dressage saddle fitted so I no longer rock up to competitions in my jump saddle ;)

Then Sunday we are off to a local fun ride, haven't taken Ness out to one yet but hoping the spread out start times means we are less likely to get pinned into a big group ?

Also hoping that my rosette from last week's dressage (my first attempt at Novice) arrives in the post because I was the idiot that forgot a SAE on the day!!

Have a good weekend all

Lovely to read that folks are out and about. What a relief after lock down.

but sorry for those who still can’t, or have lorry problems. That must be frustrating.

great pic themule.

I’m also Feeling ready to venture out more (and hoping for no local lock down or 2nd spike). Starting off with hacking so off to Cholsey again this weekend, this time with a friend as well. Then Berwick xc next weekend for the first xc for an age.

Am seeing lots of clinics advertised so hope to get to some of them soon. Might have a last crack at some quest dressage this season as my team qualified for regionals but I’ve done nothing to help that so far.

B1 had his shoe's fitted on monday so we can start going on some longer hacks (forestry stony tracks) so we will be off exploring tomorrow morning.

Farrier joked the B2 is a very expensive lawn mower - not even the ride on type!!! I'm not ready to laugh about that yet! But I suppose he is automatic??

Lots of fun rides organised round by us at the moment. If I can get B1 a little fitter I'd love to tag along with a friend when she goes out.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

We've had a quieter week than planned as I've been knackered, but Danny's schooling is coming on leaps and bounds - we have re-discovered left canter too, which is a bonus! Not a lot this weekend, I might go and pamper him a bit later then schooling tomorrow and hack on Sunday.

However, I have now booked in some fun stuff!! We're having an 'away' lesson next Friday with a list 1 judge, then Danny's BD debut next Sunday  It's a venue I took him to for unaff in February so hopefully he won't be too worried about it. I've also booked onto a BD camp in three weeks' time which is very exciting!

I had a postponed flatwork lesson on Wednesday. Included lots of 10 m circles, shoulder in and canter transitions including figure 8s trying flying changes. I’m trying hard to keep him off his FH and/or giraffe impression. He is not impressed. He expressed this with a few bucks in the canter figure 8. I had to keep going so he learned a buck wasn’t the answer. I nearly collapsed at the end. I have a video but unfortunately am off camera for most of it!

Tonight a lunging lesson on the beach to try at get back to being able to riding on the beach without being ranked off with etc.

Probably another flatwork lesson on Sunday and a jump lesson on Tuesday!

Have a fab weekend everyone

Its J's birthday tomorrow (6 years old!) and we have hired a XC course (that is 5 miles long through some woods with optional jumps). I'm excited and nervous and will just take it as a hack and see how we go. We have booked it at 3pm so hopefully it wont be too hot to travel (about an hour away).

I'm also baking him a flapjack cake to share with his buddy after XC!

Wish us luck!

Not much for us, we are still handwalking twice a day due to Ms recent low grade lami episode.

He has had a busy week already though, getting a willy wash on Wednesday and he saw Rob Jackson yesterday. on his instruction we will also add specific polework exercises in to our schedule x 3 per week and one of the handwalks can now be ridden instead. Exciting :)

Full on weekend for us.
Cobby had evening dressage on Thursday, first competition outing since March. After a fab lesson last week where instructor told me to get on with it, we stepped up and did our first Novice. Just a local riding club event but super pleased to get 66%. Appears my plan to blind the the judge with a shiny pony worked. She felt a bit flat, and struggled a little in the hot indoor -tired pony
Screenshot_20200731-112958~2.png
Then jump practice this morning before it got too hot. She felt great and really loves her jumping.
Tomorrow we will hack and then Sunday we are off to an unaff show jumping. Keeping it small and then will go back in 2 weeks and step up a height. Last time we went (march) she ran out of steam, so will be interesting to see how she copes as hopefully she is much fitter now. Am really liking the fact that we have start times, and limited numbers in the warm up, sounds perfect.
Am also starting to up the inhand walking with my broken lad - meeting a friend tomorrow who is going to come with me so we can have a chat and catch up, whilst walking (he's basically a giant Labrador who will quite happily just plod along next to you)
And at some point I need to reinforce the electric fencing as cob keeps escaping on to lush grass, and am paranoid she will get lammi.

Good luck to all those competing, and hope everyone has fun
