Bleedin' nora, only just finished the washing from last weekend. Off we go again...

This has felt like a really short week , snuck out yesterday morning to use a stunning long arena down the road to have a trial ride through A100 with Millie :cool4: eyeing up a show with a PYO in early Sept so we have 6 weeks to polish it but early indications are that it will be quite doable, amazing.

All about Millie this week, she has M75 and AM92 tomorrow afternoon, nice late times so I can do loads of work before we go! :p

Had a little sit on Kira this morning and she seems to have grown in confidence and maturity (no! :o) for her trip away so she did some good grown up stuff, bit of hacking for her over the weekend and then back to work in earnest.

What have other HHOers got planned?

Oooh, I can join in! Taking my old boy (20yo!) out to combined training at Felbridge. It will be our first SJ outing for 2yrs since he had an op on his leg Aug 15 (had a year off, have done some dressage since coming back into work - ETA we have done some jumping clinics recently!). Excited but rather nervous :biggrin3:

oh have a great time AandK, it's so nice when you can get the oldies back out again - Millie is 20 as well. A good vintage :tongue3:

Thank you :smile3: it is a good vintage! He is looking and feeling so well at the moment, I'm going with the mantra of 'making hay while the sun shines' and enjoying our time together!

Enjoy AandK!

Can't believe Millie is 20! :O She looks amazing! Has she got any more showing on the cards?

Quet weekend thisweekend for me after two events in a row - will probably hack both days and pick her up again on Monday. Bit of yard work for a local yard and maybe a couple of livery horses to ride so all quite. We picked up our new (to us) lorry last weekend so may spend some time faffing with that packing permenant stuff and making the living homely :D

I have, erm some what rashly.... decided to take BOTH carriage horses out on sunday :eek3:. No I have no idea why I think this is a good idea either , or why I'm doing short arena prelims or AM98 :eek3:, when one is a gambling giraffe and the other cannot do a clean change .

I'm expecting it to be an entertaining outing ;).

We're taking the spotty showjumping. There is a strong possibility that he will start the class by refusing to go within 20ft of the first few fences - so we'll be doing a teeny tiny course that he can climb over from halt if necessary. If he pulls his brave pants up, he might get to do something more fun.

Slightly frustrating, when he is actually quite useful over a fence...

not at the moment, tbh it's difficult to fit it all in and as she is feeling so good I'd rather spend our outings prancing around the dressage ring... she's so forgiving, and so reliable in the work that she knows, she's the ideal horse for me to play at the advanced stuff without any worries. I don't train extensions and I don't ride small shapes so we take the hit on those at shows but it's OK when you have done it on purpose!

She's qualified for 2nd rounds with VHS and SSADL, and some TSR things too but I keep having to miss them because it doesn't fit in the calendar... maybe next year

I'm expecting it to be an entertaining outing ;).

it'll be grand, look forward to the report :D

I'm currently sat in the horsebox crawling along the M25 on the way to Cherwell for their amateur show this weekend. I do have Percy pigs and a lot of cake on board so it's not to bad! :biggrin3:.
Got a couple of classes tomorrow and entered the BN for Sat and Sun but will see how we get on as may change them.

Well I've had my lesson this morning, running through my first elementary test so there will be lots of cantering 10m circles whenever I get the chance and practicing the transitions from medium to working canter however there is a very special outing planned on Sunday...
I have been promising my kids for 2 years that I will let them do a show and this weekend will be that day! Sunday morning I will be up VERY early to bath our family pet/18hands of Clydesdale ready for Best turned out and Thelwell pony classes at a nearby riding club show with 4 year old twin jockeys taking the reins for the first time. Whatever happens I will be a super proud mum of all 3 of them and I am expecting to cry at some point.

If it isn't pissing down and my back is holding up we will go showing on Saturday, but I'm not riding their to stand around in the rain ;).

Good luck everyone.....

My 6yo son and I are both entered in a local WH show on Saturday. My pony had his second tet/flu vacc though on Monday, so OH is going to lunge him tomorrow and check if he is OK to go (the first one made him cough)...

Fiona

Dr trainer is here tomorrow afternoon (baby Ellie has her first 'lesson') then UA dressage with mini ginger on Sunday as I missed the entry deadline for BD.

There's only one other entry in my first class and i'm the only entry in the second , plus we haven't been out in a few months so planning on using it as a confidence-building exercise for the both of us (although I have no doubts that R will find something to spook at despite all of my spook-busting efforts during the week).
If it doesn't go well, then at least we'll look good in our new show gear :p

Good luck and have fun, everyone!

A quiet one for us. I'm grooming for a friend who is also doing the combined training at Felbridge (maybe see you there, AandK :D ). Not decided what to do with B yet. Then arena hire on Sunday morning to do yet more SJ practice... got to be done!

Going to a Cavaletti clinic on Sunday. VERY excited as I only have the space to put up 5 poles in a row at home and haven't been able to work out angle/spread for any on curved lines. Just hoping we wont embarrass ourselves and send all the poles flying!

Was meant to be a quiet one for me but now heading out to try a Style jumping class with my new one which could be interesting as we really don't have any style!

I'm going to a local show to do the performance/ style jumping class again. Will definitely do the 90cm and if feeling very brave might have a go at the metre :eek3: (If I'm not feeling brave we can do the 80 and 90) It will be a bit of experience either way.

I'll also get to have a look at the working hunter classes, which I'm a bit curious about. I would have to make the pony presentable before considering entering :redface4:

Lesson tomorrow and a ranch riding clinic on Sunday. Things have gone a little awry over the last week so it will be good to get the to bottom of it and get us back on track. Although I suspect the fix will be we need a new saddle, so heavy on the pocket!

I am doing a style class for the first time. what are they looking for? is there any specific dress code?

Yes they are looking for white/ cream/ beige breeches, shirt and tie/ stock ( I'm not sure which) and a jacket. (Tweed or navy/black). The horse is supposed to be plaited aswell.

I did this class for the first time last week and showed up wearing a blingy stock shirt :D ,horse wasn't plaited etc, but they let me in! I found out about the dress code after the class.

The marks given are based on the rider, not how the horse jumps. They are looking for good lines to the fences, straightness, landing on the correct diagonal, rider position over the fences and a good rythym around the course. It's only one round because there's no jump off.

I'm show jumping on Saturday and cross country schooling on Sunday..... I hope! Depends on the weather though, I'm a total lightweight :D

Good start for us, if rather soggy - 72% in M75 and then 63% in AM92 with a few mistakes :D Just love taking Millie out, she fits like an old slipper, a brilliant fun old slipper that is! Bit of a report on her page, but here is a picture of her looking like the wise owl she is <3

Poor Kira has been savaged by the horseflies and has big sore lumps on her bum so they're staying in for the weekend while that settles down.. which just made my weekend a bit more packed keeping them exercised but that's horses! ;)
