Ouch!

Although speaking from the other side of the fence blood transfusions etc are very expensive to do!

Did your foal have hyperimmune plasma? That costs over £120 per bag for a start!

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep the plasma alone was 175 +VAT thats without all the other drugs to boot....ah never mind at least hes well now

Ouch.

Having had a pile of excess requests lately, I feel for you!

[/ QUOTE ]

I have no excess as he can't be insured for 30 days from birth...I presume insurers know the risks

I know your pain (not to the same extent) Today I rang vet to pay bill for spottie babies virus check (which I took her too, which the vet saw her for under 3mins, took blood and 2 lots of antibiotics) £250

Check & IGG for £300!? I'm sure mine was MUCH lower than that!!! What on earth was the travel?

[/ QUOTE ]

Thats why I'm hoping one of the big invoices is a mistake as the IGG test was also on the initial £110 check of mare and foal bloods ect ect what has confuzzled me is the actual plasma transfusion bills have come out with different ammount's for the same thing
confused.gif
so one of those is what I'm hoping has to go hopefully the £400 one

Welcome to my (old) world. That was a regular monthly bill from Ted.. Not that i begrudge a single penny of it. It kept my boy happy for as long as it could.

Tell me about vet bills! my horse stayed 7 days at the vet: 4000 pound for nerve blocks, ultrasounds, bone scan x-rays etc! then I had to bring her back 3 weeks later for re-examination - 300pounds
and finally being told "we're not sure whats wrong with her, maybe MRI scan will help, maybe just give her 6months off!!!"
GREAT! thank god she was insured so I only had to pay the excess but I would have not imagined in a million years that it would be so expensive!
