On a very very hot day I went showing  crazy I know, I much prefer the dressage now but with a severe lack of transport, an outing is an outing!!

It was only a poxy little local show but I want to get a few outings under my belt just as prep for the dressage next month. I hacked about an hour to get there, and obviously the were running late!!

First class was Ridden Horse 15hh plus, only 3 of us in there and hadn't had a proper warm up because it was SO hot I didn't push him more than necessary. Unfortunately he wasn't quite listening to me and we got pushed from 1st down to second because he wanted to canter instead of showing his medium tot

Next was M&M, with a good sized class (which they split) He was better, listening more but not working like a dressage cob!! Anyway we came 1st...cue very pleased Trendybraincell :D:D

Into the championship, which was surprising strong considering it was local. Much deliberation between judges and we got Reserve Champion to a charming little county level show pony as Champion.

Also (personally for me the best part), whilst warming up for M&M a guy came over to ask about the Welsh Cob, vital statistics etc etc...asked if he was for sale and offered me 6K for him...very nice I said, but no thank you. He looked us up and down and said "if you gave me that for 6 months I'd get that to HOYS driving!"..."I'll give you 10K tomorrow for him!":eek::eek:

WOW...to say the least, I still turned him down, saying the Welsh Cob is with me for life! I now want to find out who this guy was, he won the driving classes with a very nice Hackney, so I just want to see if he knows his stuff.

Anyway, not a bad day eh :D:D:p

Awww well done you. I remember someone offering me crazy money for my cob but I said no, plus it makes you feel good that your horse is worth more than that to you. ARgh you've made me want a full welsh cob all over again. :D Gonna get hunting maybe

Ah thank you for all your lovely comments!!

toffee44...Welsh Cobs are amazing...you know you want one!!

monkeybum, OMG hot doesn't even begin to cover it. Luckily we found a good spot under the trees when we were in the ring.

Honestly I don't feel he went anywhere near as well as he can go, but it was just SO DAMN HOT I didn't see any justification in pushing to his best just for a local show!

Oh Coffee_Bean...when you wait as long as I waited to get my dream horse, and he does everything you could ever ask an more...10K doesn't come close!!

Hey!! well done - he looks super - I wonder if the driving guy was Gary Docking? he likes a good looking welshie......And BTW I wouldn't sell Moses either, he may not be the best looking welsh but to me he's a horse of a lifetime and not for sale, although I have had a few offers too!!

i dont think he would suit a cart very well, he would look fantastic in a ridden class! i would take him county level and see how you get on!!

I do have an ambition to take him to the Royal Welsh, but more the experience than the actual showing!

Thank you miss_buffay, but we're dressage diva's now! Matthew Lawrence used to tell me he'd be middle of the line county level, think he's too plain for county plus his conformation will always let him down.

moses06...its completely gone out of my mind what the guys name was, but I know it wasn't Gary...I'm going to look up the results, should be able to find him there...would just be nice to see if he knows his stuff.

well matthew does know his stuff, i think he looks fantastic, im a dressage diva now but plan on doing ex racer classes, search for a star if he comes sound in time, major bad timing with lameness, just get the x-rays done mega quick, 5 mins schooling and enter haha!!

I too have an ambition to gallop in front of the grandstand at the royal welsh!!! Mine too would be about middle of the class county, but at the RW they prefer our proper, old fashioned stamp of cob so who knows??!!!!!:D

That he does miss_buffay, so I figure its sensible to listen to the guy...mind you he hasn't seen the Welsh Cob in over 3 years, so he's changed alot. Well I presume you know about our lameness issues last year?! So stick with it, and you'll come out the other side even better than before!!!

I think Moses is a fab cob!! I think if I pick the right judges to show under he'd do ok, as those who do like him, like him alot. I just want that experience of the RW...I think its unlike anything else!

I did it with Twyford Dynasty, when she galloped in front of the grandstand it was fantastic, I am going back a few years.
