For me it would be the Fresian.
Love the look and the way they move but in 53 years of riding I have never managed to even sit on one let alone spend time with one.
What's yours?

Ooooh good question. I am also going to say Fresian. They always look so big and strong. Can't think of anything I havent ridden that I wanted to ride!

Ooh, so many!

Icelandics, any of the gaited breeds, a Friesian has to be up there. I'd love a spin with a standardbred, I've driven a part breed but never ridden one and hey re such kind horses. Ahkel teke is probably top of the list though.

And weirdly, just a big powerful hunter. I've only ever had natives and heavy horses; my riding school mounts are all quite small and mainly welsh breed. I'd really fancy a ride on maybe a decent Irish hunter with plenty of blood, about 16.3 and ride at some really big fences!

Trakehner. I loved the black one that was the Lloyds horse in the 90s. I'd absolutely love to ride one or own one*

*with the caveat that it must be getting on and a bit sleepy, as I'm not at all brave now.

I want to ride every. Single. Breed. Just because you can't judge until you've tried it right!?
Although an exmoor would definitely be on my list, as would something gaited, and an akhal teke.

Icelandic (although I did manage to steal a cuddle with one)
I've met 2 Fresians and ridden one of them. Thick as two short planks, no concept of personal space and rather like trying to stop / steer a supertanker. No, I don't like them (although it may just be one bad example has put me off for life!)

Were they quite uncomfortable? They've always looked quite a hard ride to sit to...?

A Dales! and a mule :)

have ridden a few gaited breeds-pasos, Icelandics, TWH (my favourite). Used to love riding anglos and WBs when I was braver and younger, ridden lots of natives, Iberians, arabs and appys, Clydies and their crosses.

Would love to ride a Friesian and a Lusitano.

Have ridden a couple of Akhal Tekes, wonderful horses. Very, very comfortable and definitely have a mind of their own! When I have the money, I will be getting one, but I think that's a few years off yet!!

I've got a thing for Welsh Cobs having owned a typically nutty one for 14 years from the ages of 13-27 (both our ages!) but I can't say I have any strong feelings about any other breeds. I'm a bit big for a Welshie now so have two big hunter types - one of unknown breeding (probably IDx something) and one Welsh x Shire x TB (who we always though was IDxTB until his breeder tracked us down!) A nice horse is a nice horse. I've ridden an Icelandic and while it's nice to say I've tolted it wasn't life changing. When I'm in the market for a new one I'll be looking at nice 16hh + middleweight types again (I don't like anything too narrow) but won't care about specific breeds.

Where did you ride a teke if I may ask? Was it in the UK or abroad?

Good question and makes me realise just how many breeds I have had a chance to ride (TB, Arab, Selle Francais, Andalusian, Hanovarian, Hackney, most native breeds, Trakehner, Icelandic, Haflinger, Fjord to name a few).

A Lipizzan is top of my list.
Dales is my missing native (that I could ride now without squishing!).
I've always liked the look of Fresians too (although I didn't find the hackney very comfy, so suspect that the Fresian would have the same feel?).

Going fast on a Clydesdale is AWESOME :)

I've ridden 4 friesians and they were all very uncomfortable! Lovely horses mind you. Though I suspect they are like Stubben saddles, some people find them super comfy but I have ridden in many and never got off without a sore bum lol!

I can thoroughly recommend an Exmoor. But I would. Hehehehe!

I would love to ride an Icelandic & a Fjord.

My horse of a lifetime was thought to be Cleveland bay x TB. However we had no proof of his breeding.
I’d like to ride a CB or CB x TB. I’d like to own one thought they are generally a bit big for me. (He was bred to be a man ‘s hunter but didn’t make the expected height.)

One in the UK - a very kind woman took an interest in my dissertation, and I was able to meet her and her horses. The other was in Italy whilst I was doing my data collection. The stud owner was very generous and allowed me to ride one of their favourite mares (eek!).

Oh wow, you're lucky then: so far as I'm aware there's <40 so you are very very lucky - and I am very very jealous! ;)

An Akhal-Teke, that would be fun. And a real Barb horse, although I have ridden some "probably" Barb horses in Morocco that were lovely. I've ridden a LOT of different breeds/types all over the world and know which my all time favourites are by now. I also know those I wouldn't want to sit on, and definitely those I'll be glad to never sit on again :-)

Wish it were possible to get a giant exie...sadly am 5"8 so would probably need roller skates for an average size one ;) :(

A giant exie is required? Well he's been described as an exmoor before and definitely fits the giant version :p

Icelandic for me - mainly because I've been over there quite a lot of times and never got around to riding one. I also have a soft spot for draft horses and there's few breeds (Black Forest) that pop up on the FB groups that I think I'd like to have a play with!

Oh. My. GOD !
If this beautiful beastie disappears suddenly one night, you'll know where to look :p Now here is a horse who I wouldn't look too tall on for once! (I have long enough legs to make a 16hh ex racer look "small".)
Ardennes by any chance?
