One Breed You Love But Have Never Ridden

I would love to ride a Norwegian Fjord - they look so cute and fun! I've never ridden a Clydesdale which might be fun, and I'd love to ride an Arab again. I was once taken on a 3 hour hack by a lady who bred Arabs in France. She only had one saddle so I rode bareback. It was a glorious ride, but I soon realised the limitations of my seat when cantering up the steep mountain tracks - I slid backwards and kept having to lift myself back up to the correct spot :D very comfy horses though and beautifully responsive to ride.

Oh. My. GOD !
If this beautiful beastie disappears suddenly one night, you'll know where to look :p Now here is a horse who I wouldn't look too tall on for once! (I have long enough legs to make a 16hh ex racer look "small".)
Ardennes by any chance?

This beautiful beastie is currently head to toe mud covered right now - I don't think you'd want him! Yes he's Ardennes. Only about 14h, but about the same width so he'd have no problem taking your legs although your hips might not thank you for it!!

A TB on a track.

I'm not sure if it counts as I've owned a TB, but a proper one on a track would be immense.

A Murgese, such beautiful, majestic horses...

I nearly bought a part bred akhal teke. Not sure if it was that, the Arab or the native in him that made him very strong willed and single minded but he was incredible (just a complete danger on the roads which is why I didn't buy him at the end of the trial)
YO had a Friesan, I'd say the first description given on the first page described her faultlessly. Not my cup of tea at all personally.
Always wanted an American Bashkir curly coat but don't like the ones bred here so it's a bit of a non-starter. Having seen the Paso finos in action at an Iberian show, they look like a lot of (mostly uncontrolled!) Fun!

An Akhal-Teke, that would be fun. And a real Barb horse, although I have ridden some "probably" Barb horses in Morocco that were lovely. I've ridden a LOT of different breeds/types all over the world and know which my all time favourites are by now. I also know those I wouldn't want to sit on, and definitely those I'll be glad to never sit on again :-)

Oooh....I rode a Barb stallion in Morocco and will go down as one of the most amazing experiences ever. Galloping, tears streaming down my face we were going so quickly, along a 200km beach...amazing. I've ridden Icelandic horses in Iceland...not really my thing. I'd love to ride an Akhel teke too.

I have always wanted to ride a Suffolk punch ever since I first heard of them!

It is very different; they are so wide. I love mine, his walk is so big, and his canter is just lovely, slow and feels like you're floating. I've ridden mine bareback too which was great. He's remarkably supple for a big horse and very responsive to your seat. If you ever find yourself near Cheshire, get in touch.

The only breed I would want to try but haven't are the ones I can't because I'm too big; New Forest (there is an awesome one at our stables who is the cheekiest little monster), Dales, Shetland etc.

thank you very much. When I got on cobbus after such a long time off I was ztruck by how very wide she was. :D

This year, I actually managed to ride the two breeds that were at the top of my list. Cumbrian Heavy Horses let me gallop an 18.2hh Shire down the beach, and I've had a couple of rides on my friend's PRE.

I'd love to ride a Tennessee Walking Horse (obviously not one of the big lick monstrosities) but not much chance of that in the UK. Also an Icelandic and a Paso Fino.

I rode a Friesian for the first time a couple of years ago. Expected the trot to be uncomfortable but it was fine, ditto canter. The woman I rode with has a lot of experience with the breed and said they vary, some are uncomfortable, some not.

I'd love to ride an arab.

Oh so many!!

I'd love to ride a proper standardbred. Ned has great bloodlines, but he's a little confused with pacing and trotting. A proper pacer would be interesting to try!
I got to cross Spanish off my list, I rode two lovely ones at my old yard.
Icelandic would be fun, well jel that my Dad has ridden one!!
I've ridden a Clydesdale at the same place, she was great fun and a shire when I was about 8.
Though I'd love to ride a really thick set heavy!
A proper Arab too!! I've ridden many part Arabs, but never a full.

Me too with the Akhal-Teke, although suspect FUN might not come into it. Have ridden a Barb type (in London would you believe it) and she was very sweet, as well as being utterly ravishing.

Useful too in a punch-up :)

Mine once came over all Marwari (on a pals behalf), I swear if I'd asked him he would have taken the fellows face off!

I was lucky enough to ride an Icelandic some years ago. The tolt is awesome. I would exchange the trot for that in a heart beat!!

As for what I would like to ride, I think I'm an oddball. I would love to ride a proper trotter. One that can trot super speed like the speed of a normal horses gallop. What fun that would be to try and post to lol

would love to ride again full stop. Have ridden an akhal in the new forest, a friesien at a riding school the first was lovely the second horrible. I would love to ride a dales they look just my cup of tea

Just crossed the icelandic off my list, on holiday in Iceland, loved the tolt :)
Would like a gallop an Arab across a desert and ride a racking horse in America. Lots more holidays needed!

I've ridden a heavy (A Shire called Miracle who stood at 18hh!) when I went on holiday with Cumbrian Heavy Horses last year. An absolutely incredible experience. The horses are so responsive and surprisingly agile. I fell in love with her and wish I could have taken her home!!

As for breeds I'd love to ride...

I'd quite like to ride a full Friesian as we have a friesXwelshD at work who I love riding-he feels like a film horse. I wish I was small enough to race a Shetland pony! Also love the look of Andalusians and Lippis, they're just so gorgeous.

Would love to ride a Marwari or Kathiawari horse but it would involve traveling to India which won't be happening any time soon!

A racehorse on a straight track

Also not necessarily a breed but a schoolmaster dressage horse and have a go at all the advanced moves e.g. tempi changes and piaffe etc

Same for me, not a breed as such but a schoolmaster dressage horse to have a play at more advanced stuff in fact, I might put that on my list for 2018 as contessa and a couple of other schools are within travelling distance from me.

I'm a Warlander fan (Fresian x Iberian type) a friend of mine has one and he is just stunning (but a bit much for me!)

Andalusian/Lippizaner, and I'd absolutely love to be small enough to ride ponies again, my fondest memories are Welsh Mountains and i'd love to ride an Exmoor or other natives.
