One man and his Pitbull - as promised

The problem isn't the breed - it's people
a) too lazy to research their breed
b) too proud to admit when they can't handle their mischosen breed
c) too stupid to realise an aggressive dog isn't impressive.

Whilst out walking my two jacks, we met another terrier, likely a lakeland cross, as she was russet red. The dogs chatted nicely for a time and then little red found a tennis ball and all hell broke lose. After the chasing it finally ended in an altercation (little red lost her temper with Roly pulling the end!) and they had stern words.

A lot of people would shout "nasty terriers!! Vicious dogs! Why didn't their owner have them under control?!!!"

I simply corrected Roly with a click and a stern word, little red's owner took the ball off her. Situation diffused.

Problem solved.

Probably controversial but here it goes:

I think the problem with the UK and its reaction to supposed dangerous dogs is two fold - 1) we have a high percentage of useless scroats and 2) we have a high percentage of highyl strung, middle aged women who have dogs as their second child when they realise first child has flown the nest and doesn't enjoy being mothered any more. They half read newspaper stories printed in our oh so accurate press, gossip over afternoon tea with other neurotic mothers and formulate completely crazy opinions on things they know nothing about. After forcing these opinions on long suffering husband (who stopped having opinions of his own YEARS ago, after the last nagging tirade lasted 24hours) they then go out and walk little Snuffy-wuffy and are confronted by a dog of mixed breed but with a bullish head (ergo its a Pitbull!) and when little Snuffy-wuffs takes his ego rage (he's been forced to wear pink ffs!) out on said mixed breed its just another reason for Neurotic crazy middle aged woman to say to her friends over quiche the next day..
"You know all those bull breeds should be banned...a Pitbull savaged my Snuffs..."
:p

You got it! And that little red was prob a working lakie with the usual short fuse..love `em to bits.:D

I am a massive fan of terriers full stop, you really cannot beat how game and ready-to-go they are :D then people forget their little terriers are not so far removed from a SBT etc ;)

I have been stalked by a pit bull, in Australia - it was a friends, he left it in the house with me while he went out and it flipped - it was bloody scary. At least you can kick a jack russell off your ankle.

This is what makes me laugh! Have you ever seen a dog attack? If he has wanted to attack you you wouldn't have had a quarter of a second to get him off same with any dog!

Too blooming true ,if he had wanted to get you he would`nt have bothered with any subversive stalking. That`s what I like in a dog, honesty. Many bull terriers will walk around with you "humming" their talky language, and so often it is mistaken for something nasty, devotees love it..they always have a gluggy answer to your rubbish talk. Some of mine have great smiles as well. The only time I have ever been wary is with a new rescue ,frightened and may "defend" itself, takes time to just sit and wait it out till the fear`s gone.
