One more English horse leaving your shores and headed my way :-)

He will be on KLM Flight 643 tomorrow. It's the same flight Cudo was on in a COMBI plane. So it's @ 12 horses and 268 people. AS was explained to me this is an excellent flight to be on as it won't be delayed and shifted around as much as a cargo flight since the passengers require it to stay on a schedule.

The layout of the plane is here. The Pallets are the square boxes in the back of the map. Use the Slider underneath the image to move the map left to right

You can track it here: https://flightaware.com/

Remember that last time they held them up 2 hours on the tarmac and as a result it disappeared off all the trackers for 2+ hours. We didn't know where the plane was and neither did the KLM customer support staff in either the US or Holland. That was a fun moment!!!!

We have clear skies and 60 degrees tomorrow so actually a great temperature day for him to arrive.

So fingers crossed. That flight leaves Amsterdam at 5:10pm local time. and should arrive here at 8:30pm our time, which would be 12:30am (midnight and change) your time.

Last time I listened to Cudo's flight on the Air traffic control tower app on my phone as his flight came down to and landed at JFK. And yes I cried. :-)

They're actually phasing out the use of Combi's in equine transport and for passenger travel. But I'm very glad we had them available for Chad. I liked the idea of 11 fellow equines much better than a plane full. Less germs.

Landed safe and sound. He's off to quarantine. They sent me these pics. Either the person talking them has the worst photographic timing or he could have been given a mind tranquilizer. The sweat on his side and his eyes make me think that. No matter really. He's here and seems well otherwise.

Wow, he's lovely! Although I agree he looks a little glazed over in the most recent pics - but the main thing is, he has arrived safe and sound :) Looking forward to hearing more about him!

Great news that he's made it safely to your side of the pond!

Very exciting to have another new project - fingers crossed he's as good as Cudo has proved to be - certainly from the video you posted, he looked super! :-)

Not much news today. He's in and fine. They sent me pics of his existing hock scar to record it from the vet and a new scab on his face that I'd noticed Sunday. Not much news beyond that. We hear he's doing well.

Omg is that your place BunnyDog? It's gorgeous!!!
No. It's 2 miles from my house and I rent it. The place and owner are lovely and the only thing I'm lacking a bit is more turnout acreage. My 3 fields add up to just around 3 acres. 8 would be ideal but we make it work for us.

I'll put together a photo album on Flickr once I'm done here at the barn and post a link. Sorry about that.

What's that waterer, Emily? Is it fed from a borehole? It seems an odd place for it to be, out in the field like that.

He looks very smart 👌

Ok so I will include a pic taken from Google Maps just now to help illustrate my point. Waterers are circled in blue. Gates are in the white squares. These are my fields. Field layout.jpg

The waterers are placed in convenient location to run off the same well and where the plumbing will work out.

In most fields over here they're put not up against a gate but rather a few strides away so that they're not damaged in kerfuffle as horses are trying to go in or come out. Likewise you wouldn't want a muddy mess by the gate if a water line broke etc.

Also you will find them situation near run in sheds. And sure it may appear that they're just stuck out in the world but these things are VERY solid (All workings encased in a cement tower) and very easy to work with.

The website for one of the top brands is here: https://www.nelsonmfg.com/ They have many applications for their products and they're pretty easy to work with and fix.
