Thinking of having a bash at online dressage. But I'm completely inept with anything technical. Using the usual methods of messenger and email, I can't send videos to anyone any longer than about 20 seconds. Phone is android. How do you submit your dressage tests if it's 4 1/2 mins or longer. Can't see them being happy receiving a gazillion 20 sec clips of my test ?

Only if you send them the link or the somehow managed to put in specific enough search criteria to find your video. None of mine have been gone viral yet ?

Can you use what’s app? That doesn’t seem to have the restrictions.

but Yes, unlisted on you tube also works.

Depending on which one you use they have info on how to upload. Dressage riders online you can post direct onto their Facebook events page but that does mean that members can see your video too,

As above I upload to youtube and use unlisted which won't come up on a search.

The other thing you can do if is use a service like mytransfer which lets you send bigger files. The person you are sending to gets a link to download the video.

Whatsapp has a size limit of 16mb. FB messenger is slightly bigger at 25mb but both will be too small for hi res videos of about 5 minutes

There are different upload settings. Public, private, and unlisted.

Public - everyone can see it
Private - only you, and people you choose can see it
Unlisted - anyone with the link can see it

I use unlisted, and send the link to the judge.
This :)

Whereas I don't care who sees it, not because I think its amazing, just because I'm shameless ? and can't be bothered working it all out. I often share things on here and my owner shares lots on Facebook and Instagram - my anonymity is wishful thinking

I'd love to have your confidence. I prefer to hide in the shadows ?

I'm generally not fussed but probably about 30% of my stuff on YouTube is unlisted, most has been shared here or on FB it just prevents comments from YT randoms watching stuff out of context ?

OK this seems to be the way forward. Never done it before but hopefully it's idiot proof and I'll be able to do it

Oh I still look and cringe at so much of my riding but it is what it is, I actually regret not sharing more of the real terrible bits because it shows how far we gave come already.
I tend to think most people have better things to do than watch my online comp submissions and mock me so I take my chances

So unlisted is fine so it won't pop up if someone enters Intro A or Prelim 2 on Youtube. People have to have the link and I'm hoping the judge isn't going to start sharing with their friends.

There are a few steps on Youtube

You have to create an account
Create a channel
The click on Create Video and you'll get the option to upload.
At the end, you can choose the privacy level

Sometimes people type in a test name when they want to see how a movement looks especially if they don't have the dressage diagram type sheet and you may pop up if it's public.

I actually don't mind that too much, I do the same if I want to see how a test rides so figure I ought to contribute now and then ?

Mine wouldn't help anyone as the tb suddenly swerves sideways at a jump wing that's lived in that corner since forever and they start looking for a shallow loop at H and if they need to do a gallop pirouette at the judge.
