And he arrives tomorrow! ? Bought from videos, trainer and vet both approve and cheap enough that if it all goes wrong it’ll be annoying but not the end of the world. I’m equal parts nervous and excited, partly wondering what the heck I’m doing as I don’t buy ridden ones unseen but there was something about him that brought out my impulsive side. Thankfully I have a very patient husband!

Lovely can't wait to see your pictures.

I might be wrong but did you not buy a ridden one a little while ago?

How is your younger horse doing I last heard he was on rehab livery?

I’ll be sure to share some pics tomorrow once he’s settled in. And not mistaken at all, we’ve had the ridden one almost a year now. He’s wonderful but very much a dressage diva who finds hacking the most stressful thing ever so we’ve been quietly looking for a young Irish type that I can bring on alongside him for a while now as we knew we’d need a 3rd once they come home.

Youngster is doing well, he’s still at the rehab yard. We’ve just started reintroducing turnout following a better than expected reassessment so hopefully will have him home by Easter if all goes well??

Ooh exciting. I love buying unseen. I've been offered more than 4 times what I paid for him for my unseen buy from last year! I hope you're thrilled when he arrives.

Photos!!
.

He’s a useful type and seems super sane given his age so absolute worst case he’ll find a home easily if he’s not for me, but really hoping he’s a lovely as he seems.

Ah thank you, he’s officially 4 at the end of March and as handsome as ever! At a guess he’s probably approaching 16.2/3 now but still not been brave enough to put a stick to him ?

That photo made me smile there is something about that face I have always liked him and chestnut horses don't normally appeal to me in general they have to be a bit special which I think he is.

God his gonna be massive ?

Aww thank you, he’s such a dude, despite his misadventures I do feel very lucky to have him, but yes I do fear how big he’ll end up ?

My bought unseen yearling has made me happy so far despite being a very fugly duckling…til he broke! Always said I’d never buy unseen as I don’t sell horses but somehow went and did it anyway.

Ha yeah I said I’d never buy a ridden one unseen, but here we are! Really curious to see what he’s like in the flesh. I do think the fugly ducklings are always the best kind!

I am so happy for you, very exciting.
Thanks for all the positive stories guys, it’s massively helping my omg what have I done panics tonight ?
I said I would never buy unseen, yet here I am too. Mine is amazing, biggest gamble, but he is ace!

I see no blaze in that photo? But he is gorgeous, lovely expression.

Misadventures? He comes with a back story?

On one of your other posts, I bought mine as one who was a lot saner than I usually buy. I thought it would somewhat counter the fact I had never seen him and that, like you said, he would suit someone else if he didn't suit me. As he is, you will have to prise him from my cold, dead hand! He is amazing.

Also from one of your posts, I asked the transporter to take photos, as I was so excited. |They took snaps as opposed to dressed photos, and one of them looked as if he had a huuuuge windgall. Nope, he is clean legged, it was feather! Such an exciting time when the box came and opened up, as I knew that whatever was inside was mine - like Christmas!

Photos on arrival are essential!

Ah sorry for the confusion, the ginge on the thread is the one I’ve had since a foal. He fractured his sesamoid in the field last year and then managed to quite literally kick my ass after a summer of boxrest at which point I had a mini-meltdown on here and had some lovely folks reassure me I wasn’t failing him to acknowledge I was out of my depth and send him to rehab livery. The vet thought we’d be lucky if he made a very light hack, but she’s now coming round to the idea he’s a bit of a trooper and admitted he’s doing better than she ever expected so we’re mildly optimistic he might have some semblance of ridden future now but I’m in no rush with him. The new guy is a bit of a distraction from it all, he’ll hopefully do all the fun stuff that would blow my ridden boy’s mind, and stand me in good stead for backing my youngster if and when that time comes.

I totally relate to the saner than you usually buy theory, I feel that’s exactly what I’ve done with the newbie (or at least that’s the hope!). My usual type is neurotic warmbloods, whereas he’s a proper leg in each corner ID x who despite only being recently backed looks super chilled and sensible.

That is mine too. Sire is the rugby prop forward of all IDs. Dam is breeding unknown but, if I were to hazard a guess, I would say a Connie. Solid, leg at each corner, but movement that is surprisingly good. Very kind, very sensible. I hope you have as much fun with yours as I am having with mine.

Your current ginger one has a lovely face!

Ah sounds remarkably similar to the one arriving today. Really hoping he turns out to be as great as yours sounds!

Hope it goes well! I bought unseen last summer (unbacked so not too much risk) - she turned out to be in foal, and was the grumpiest creature alive for nine months or so. For ages I thought I had made a mistake - that the kind face that had attracted me to her in the photo had been a fluke. Then we weaned the foal and backed her. She has turned out to be amazing under saddle, and is so much happier now the foal is weaned.
