Opinions on this pony please (inc vid).

I like! Looks like suitable for confident/competent rider, possibly needs a softer bit as looks a little unsteady in the head? Bet you'd have lots of fun with him. :D

he has been advertised a few times, they have dropped the price again this week, am sure he was 3k last week.

I saw his ad and hoped he got a good fun home really as am sure he isnt that bad, just a bit loopy and welsh, I actually sent the link to a friend and said I really liked him!

Watching the vid I am amazed they bought him, the combination doesnt look like its going to work to me.

Would want to try and sort his bitting out though, he really doesnt look happy and too much head tossing would get annoying on a hack but I do wonder how much of that is nervous looking rider too.

He looks like he just needs to chill out for a bit and then could be really good would love to know how you get on.

He looks like a bit of a nutcase - but probably in a good way for a confident, quiet rider. Can easily see how he could put someone less comfortable with that sort of pony off though! Looks like pretty good fun.

Looks nice for the price if you like a whizzy ride.

It may be just the way its going but it looks very tense behind. Choppy, not tracking up at all. Its not relaxed so it could be that its just never been schooled properly and has been ruined on the flat a bit. Its pushing off nice from both hinds over a fence so it may not be physical, its just very very tense and not moving through at all. Its very stiff.

If I was interested I'd get a decent back person to look over it and start schooling from scratch.

For that price though, its not going to be perfect and it definitly looks like a fun jumping pony! I like it :)

Yep, looks like the bit is for the rider - rather than the horse actually needing it.

Please let us know how you get on - I think he's just fab!

I suspect it's because of what's in it's mouth - and that it's actually not being allowed to go forwards....

yup my welshie came in a 3 ring gag and although I still use it to stop stupid welsh spooking at funny coloured weeds hacking I cant jump him in it at all. Snaffle all the way, he does a good job of looking strong at times but really isnt.

I dont think ^^^ this one is too old to start putting some schooling basics into it either. for a short backed pone frank never tracked up and only started proper schooling age 14 ;) :)

I agree Amy May. It needs to be able to move forward from behind and thats why its tossing its head, because its not soft over its back and accepting a contact. Lots of unravelling to do there on the flatwork. Still really like it though! Looks like a typical childs jumping pony.

Sometimes it is better to leave them as they feel comfortable especially as they get older, could make small changes though over time. May help him :)

Looks a fun type! definitely not for the faint hearted tho IMO, but a confident, sensitive rider should have heaps of fun with him. Yes definitely choppy, but rider also looks v tense which won't help... good luck!! :)

also the kid looks way nervous in that vid! check out her face at the end, doesn't exactly look happy about her new horse lol!

I really hope you like him, reckon he could be a little diamond in the rough :)

not read replies but my god is that a kimblewick AND kinerton on that pony???!!!!!!! looks unhappy in the mouth. nice looking but couldnt be arsed with all that jogging and dancing.lol!

I like the pony, he seems genuine and not least because he seems unhappy with his tack. He consistantly throws his head up on landing, is hollow and his stride is very short. Some of that could be to do with his previous rider as well though.

Other than that, from the short video i would definately view him again

If that was you on the video I would not view again as I am with you cannot believe they bought him the partnership looks totally unsuitable.

However for a more experianced confident rider, sort out his mouthing issues and he looks cracking! Good luck

We have his full sister! If you are competent, very quiet with your hands and seat and have LOTS of patience, you'll have bags of fun. We only got ours because everyone else had wound her up to the point of no return and beyond.

I doubt you'll ever get calm and kickalong, or sell on easily (unless you are mercenary above wanting a kind new home).

I think the rider knows how to ride this pony, whether they are enjoying it or not! She sits very still and doesn't grab hold. Also the pony is being ridden in a confined space, so hasn't much opportunity to run off. Current owners are being very honest. I'd hope the pony likes his flatwork, because he needs it! Wondering about the different rider (?) in the last shot?

Typical, sharp Welsh D.

I daresay that is because the jump is bigger than the first rider is comfortable jumping and they maybe wanted to show it off :)

Btw, if you went to see it this afternoon, how did you get on!!?? x x:D

Looks like a nice pony, just needs some schooling and some gentler tack. If you are confident and calm looks like he could be a cracker.

How did you get on this afternoon?

Absolutely lovely, very like my welsh D that i've just sold, When I got him he was very snatchy and unhappy in his mouth so i put him in a happy mouth snaffle and he was very much happier, that's what he stayed in to as he just didnt like metal bits,

What are his bloodlines on the welsh side??

I agree completely, the rider is very quiet and is not grabbing hold of him. He is typically unschooled welsh - all going on at the front and sod all at the back. I'm sure with some calm schooling he will soon learn to step under himself when relaxed (it'll never happen when excited!)

Looks great fun.

I did wonder what the hell the bit/noseband combo was!!

Phew! That is what I thought! My eye was drawn straight to the back end. Must be a dressage thing LOL!

So a no from me Im afraid. :)

Oh my goodness I love him ... just what Motor was like as a wee lad .... there was no bucking or bouncy, just fun ... if I was nearer I would go and see him ... I hope he finds a lovely home :-)

Hummm, I'm not sure if I should say too much!

He is stunning, sweet and genuine. No need for the kimblewick, I hardly touched the reins. BUT, that video was taken when the current owners were trying him in his previous home  lets just say that he needs lots of schooling just to get him back to how he was in the vid!

Thanks for the update ... If I could find a Vid of Motor, you would see his double .... but I now wonder whether 19 years on I would cope again ..... I think you have been very discreet and I credit you for that .... as I said, I hope he finds a lovely home :-)
