Just got home and shattered, whose odd sense of humour is it to call it a 3 day event!!!
Well here goes my longest ever post and shed loads of photos - pro picks to follow!
Tuesday: foolishly thought doing some work in the morning was a good idea, then to yard to jump pony, then 45 min treck to pick up borrowed lorry so got back to theyard at the time I was hoping to leave! Finally got to Osberton at 8.15, nice and dark and started raining!
Wednesday: rider briefing and course walk with Caroline Moore- the first of many! Then trot up what carnage neeed the air ambulance!!
Thursday dreaded dressige not a lot to say managed to borrow top hat and tails and did a 60.3 not too bad as I'd only started sitting trot when I'd entered Osberton
Friday day off except I was duty doctor but no catastrophes!
Saturday MG (OH not pony) Fairycakes and the two youngsters arrive to find me suffering the effects of too much champagne/beer the night before, as soon as I started on the practice jumps nerves went, warmed up well (bit too early) then off. Slightly tentative over first but then pushed on. I had decided to leave out the watch as I haven't used one before. The pony was awsome my first test was 5 - two logs the first angled to invite a left run out then 7&8 were angled pallisades down hill again angled for that run out 10 a combination of hay feeder to corner which I took left. 11 and 12 were breathers before big ditch pallisade, then double brush to 4 forward strides ditch brush. Long run up hill to big table (the pro pics made it look tiny Grrr) then upright into the house complex (house to bank to house on 4 then 1) then out over a rail to the water at 20 which was a double of roll tops, then 21 another fairly wide table, 22ab two logs on a 90 degree left hander, then a table to the finish a nice brush. So typical Stuart! Jumped beautifully though but we were a bit slow to finish with 12 time penalties!!
Grooms party in the night, but my two grooms and I were well behaved and we all were in bed for 11.30 relatively sober.
Sunday trot up was uneventful, no air ambulance, but the paramedics had sited their vehicle within 100m!!!
Then to the show jumping, reasonably twisty and big. We did have a bit of a tussle, MG shot under a low branch and proceeded to bunny hop - shows he has a sense of humour MG was very fresh so I quickly abandoned my plan to ride in spurs, and basically we jumped clear!!!!!!
He jumped out of his socks for me and I was so chuffed, I did blow my calm approach by immediately blubbing but hey ho.
Have decided to quit here so bob getting a well earned rest before a winter of elementary BD (blahhhh)
Contemplating the course (him or me?)
Over the first
Finally got home and went t'pub MG (OH not pony!!) bought bottle of champagne, hence any spelling mistakes.
To anyone getting this far a glass of Pinot but get in quick cos I'm fairly thirsty!!!!
