Oscar dog food

I used to use it,the Working dog Maintenance, had no problems with it and the dogs all looked fine on it but I changed to Skinners because I wanted to use a wheat free food.

Think that gluten free is a newer product , pretty sure it wasn't available when I was using it. Their premium stuff was quite pricey!

Neither their information leaflet or their website has prices, which is offputing!

I picked up a small bag of this at Chatsworth Country Fair last week. The traffic leaving the show was so gridlocked that we bought some food for the dogs and let them play in the river for an hour. It seemed good food, and the stand (which was shutting) seemed helpful but not pushy (perhaps as shutting!). The dogs seem to like it. The version we were given was gluten free.

I use it for Ashka my Weimy. My friend is a stockist and had been on and on at me to try it, but I admit to being a bit 'yeah yeah yeah'. I like what I know, stubborn bugger I am lol. Anyway, I was struggling to keep Ashka eating well and keeping condition so I decided to get her round to have a cuppa and a chat.
Well I swear on my life I have had a complete turnaround in my dog. She looks fab even if I do say so myself :) I think she must have been on it about 9 months or so now and I am a self confessed convert. I have 2 friends who feed it to their dogs because they couldn't believe the difference in mine and asked me what I was doing different. I *think* it's the performance one she is on but don't quote me on that and it's raining so i'm not going out to check lol. I feed less of it because of the higher calories in this certain one but that suits Ash as if I over load her with food she won't eat it. I get it delivered to my door or the yard and that is a huge bonus to me.

I've found prices on the website, click on the highlighted bit below the product. 15kg bags of gluten free are £45, think I will stick to Skinners at less than half the price. ;)

Bugger it and went and checked for you.........

Ashka is on the Advanced Maize Chicken and Rice and it is Wheat Gluten Free and Vitamin Enriched. It is a 15kg bag and costs me about £35, however I don't feed as much and I don't have to go and get it. Lasts me quite a while. I have the bag in front of me if you want to know anything

Yeah they do you need to click on the blue titles

I don't know, I spend less on this than when I fed James Wellbeloved or I think it might have been Burns as I don't have to feed as much. If you find a local distributer get them to show you the different ones and work out how much it will cost you as you might be surprised. I don't go near the website, I just go through the individual sole distributers that drive round in their Oscars van.

Hello, we have an Oscar franchise, and I hope I can answer some queries without getting a wrist slap from admin! Oscar do a range of 17 different dog foods (they do premium cat foods too), from working dog (the High Energy is wheat gluten free) right through to adult wheat gluten free, and completely gluten free foods. High vits and mins, not tested on animals, and as much of the ingredients as possible sourced from this country. The wheat gluten free range at £38.95 compares favourably with JWB at £43.49 and Burns at (I think) £47+.

We feed it to ours, and they do well on it. Not going to rubbish any other brand by name, but we've tried equivalents and tend to get a mixture of scurf/dull coats, and loose faeces, so it's always back to Oscar Maize Fish and Potato.

Honey08 - franchisees don't push Oscar hard, life is too short to bully people into buying a particular brand of dog food, they will have sold you a starter pack (I expect) with the thought that your dog would like the food and you would get back in touch!

MurphysMinder - Oscar wheat gluten free is £38.95, F&T salmon WG free is £27 (ish), but there are different feeding rates and vits and mins, and levels of ingredients to take into account.

Gluten free from Oscars isn't new - they were one of the first to intruduce completely gluten free. There is a new product called Response though, details will be on the website.

I would agree that Oscars sales folk aren't pushy. The chap who supplied me never chased for orders, and was very understanding when I changed to Skinners, in fact I kept getting Oscars for a while longer for Saffy because I felt mean leaving him completely. I feed Skinners Duck & Rice which I get for around £20 a bag, so there is quite a difference price wise, I think I feed about the same amount, but as I said in my first post I certainly had no problems whilst I was feeding Oscars.
