other horse forums

Depends what you are in to, but the British Dressage forum has some v interesting discussions sometimes :)

yes, very active, it's pretty much their HHo. I have to ask what things mean now and again, but you get the hang of it.

Thousands of them :D

If you have a specific interest, breed, colour, breeding, discipline, general just Google it ...

Some are pretty fanatical (Barefoot and Bitless for one, they threw me out - twice ;) ) The colour specific ones are fun ;)

Intelligent Horse have their hearts in the right place if you can cope with the pink and fluffiness (also evicted from there for daring to suggest you slap a horse rather than saying "No, no, naughty boy, that hurt mumsy's boobie woobie when you bit it")

You're a tad naughty on forums aren't you? :D
Intelligent horse sounds like my kind of forum! PINK AND FLOOFY! :D

:D :D :D

May I ask what COTH stands for? American English riding is so different from British English riding that I can't imagine myself ever 'settling in' on a US forum. I will have a nose on it though.

It;s the Chronicle of the Horse.

No, it's fine, really. I like to see how other people do things, if it means I have to ask people what some things mean I'm fine with that. You get the hang of it, although some of the way they do things and their fashions seem very odd to me. Im sure some of ours do to them :)

New Rider (think you have to pay for it) and Trot online are two off the top of my head. Never joined, never posted, just read and ran back to HHO - way too twee for me..

I've been a member of this one for years, used to belong to Fugly Horse of the Day but is now independently run, it is not moderated, or only in very extreme cases. It's a lot more civilised than it used to be but still a good group

It's much quieter than it used to be and hardly anyone posts on the confo section anymore and that was always very interesting as there were some real experts on there.

Welllllllllllll, sometimes it IS fun to wind them up a bit :D At least I do it under the name I use everywhere :)

I shouldn't have been on either of them really, but when you dig past the floofiness there are, like here, a lot of knowledgeable souls on there, I just wish they weren't so damn pious and convinced that their way is the only way.

Lol we should have a forum for people chucked off the IHDG! I was thrown off for disagreeing with his Holiness Monty about working that TWH in a round pen when it was so clearly distressed, he said (and yes he actually appeared on there to defend himself) that it had only been 2 minutes and then he stopped... the vid was over 12 minutes long and didn't show the start or finish!! Sooo I was told that you never argue with His Holiness and banned lol.

Now I am trying to work out who on IHDG you are/were!
Like everything else you have to be selective, and disregard those who buy into the theory but don't really have much of a clue, but I have made good friends through there and also gained a lot of useful info - I first heard about magnesium deficiency, hind gut ulcers, Centered riding and a whole load of other stuff on there.
Any group of many and various lines of experience is worth being part of, you don't have to subscribe to allowing your equines to have no boundaries.

I used to be on tackroom gossip and onthemuckheap years ago but think they have both died a death these days.

I'm on a couple of the busier Facebook groups, mainly for entertainment value :p

I go on redrosette and occasionally theshowring (usually around hoys time)

used to lurk on onthemuckheap but cant get onto the website any more! and newrider before they made you pay!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I joined a few of the less fluffy and more active forums this morning.
I'm already a member of bd, saddle up and fhot so might have to start posting on those...

I'm another one who has been chucked off IDHG - my opinions on what to do with youngsters didn't match :)

Horse gossip can be quite an interesting forum at times.
