Out 24/7

Ours are out at night now, so out from about 3pm till 8am. They’d be out 24/7 but we don’t have enough grass really…I’m not complaining they had lots of days over winter in as the ground was so wet…making the most of it! Hay in the daytime in stables and feed still as the grass isn’t great yet.

They are rugged overnight if clipped still though x

Mine are out .
They went out the first week in March then came back in for a little while because Sky had a skin infection under the saddle.
They have been out again for two a bit weeks it’s bliss they are so happy .

I tried… older ones attempted to remove themselves from the field (despite hay). So the adults are still coming in overnight and everyone else is staying out. I’ve bought my last bale of hay though - when this runs out they can deal with it and stay out!!!

My three have been out 24/7 most of the Winter😊 I only bring them in if very wet/ windy and deep mud! They are loving being out in this beautiful weather. My older mare is still tugged at night as her clip hasn’t started to grow out yet but naked from 6am to 6pm. My grass is growing like crazy (even on the 3 acre Winter paddock)! Need to make a track for them at the weekend 😊

Who's turning out 24/7 now? My boys are currently out 12 hours a day but the weather, for at least the next few weeks, is looking fine, so not sure if I should take advantage of it and turn out at night as well after a long winter!! They have a bit of grass but I think that will get going over the next few weeks. They will also have hay and a small feed. Just seems a bit early to turn out 24/7!!
Nope mine not going to be turned out 24.7.

Shadow and his field companion have been out since 15th March as I went away and field companion’s owner went away so it was easier for my friend who was looking after them both if they were out, rather than asking her to muck out 3 (including her own) every day after work as well as ride 2! I’m a huge advocate for them being out as much as possible

Our yard will be turning out 24/7 from mid-April. They’re out at the very least 9am-6pm at the moment. Usually more like 8am-7pm. We are very lucky as there’s plenty of grass and the summer fields are all ready to go into. I moved here about 5 weeks ago and I’m so happy I did!

Mine's always out 24/7!

mine are still coming in at night but not till 8pm and then back out by 6.30am. I'm still waiting for the grass to get going a bit more... it's been really dry but still cold with frosts overnight (West Somerset). I don't really mind the mucking out... it's the steaming / soaking hay (one laminitic / EMS pony and my big ID had pneumonia from snorting straw pellet bedding so will always need extra tlc now!) that drives me round the bend and kills my back!

Lari has been out overnight with me since 20th March after coming back from retirement. Before that he was living out 24/7 since June 2023 at retirement.

It's been bitterly cold where we are early mornings, we always take 2 degrees off the temperature because we're in a dip so it's always colder than forecasted and most mornings between 1- 6am it's been 1 or 2 degrees so he's had a 'no fill' rug on.

3 poohs in my bed during the day! Saving a fortune on both shavings and pellets. 😆

I'm going the other way! Our gangs live on hard-core yard year round with free access to a paddock . As its dried up, I've managed to harrow the fields and will now be shutting the gates for 6 weeks. They still get slightly stressed at being constrained to the yard but needs must

Mine are in from 8pm -6.30am, and in fields rest off the day. But I think from tomorrow we are switching over to 8pm-7am in fields and 7am-8pm in hard standing with hay bells.
