I went to see my youngster last night and had overreached on the side of his heel. It was quite deep, like a cut. My no skin flaps. I gave it a good clean with hibiscrub and then put purple spray on it and turned him out. His field has got quite short grass and is not muddy at all. Went I went to see him this morning, the scabs had come off a bit due to the wet grass and it was weeping a bit. I gave it another clean and put more purple spray on. What cream/gel should I get to protect it? Also would it be worth getting overreach boots so he doesnt catch it and opens the cut more while it heals? I be a bit worried that the boots could rub but the cut is quite low. Can you bandage that area? He is not lame in the slightest but a bit sensitive when I put purple spray on it.
I am also a bit worried that it will scar as he is going to be a dressage horse hopefully
Would it be worth getting manuka honey once it heals up a bit?
Sorry for the long post. Please help anyone?
