Ow ow ow, its that time of year again....

You're telling me, it's an endless battle at my yard. Already pulled 2 wheel barrow loads, and still loads to do. On a plus not it is helping my get fit and lose weight campaign... lol

Poor you - I have docks to battle and we are having a mild winter so the b****rs won't die back.

We used to use a very sharp spade to cut through the base and then spot weedkiller them or use old engine oil. Works well for docks as well.

Please don't forget to wear gloves when pulling ragwort as you to can end up with it accumulating in your liver and potentially making you sick.

Yep im pretty achey now, two massive wheelbarrows piled high and i still have 4 fields to do!
i kept getting serious headrush too.
Gotta do it all again tomorrow!

I haven't done that for 5 years, not something I miss:)

:D:p

119 acres to go!:( That's not good at all. Bit like the Forth Bridge, you finish the last field and the first one has sprouted another crop for you!

I have to battle with golden rod, yes, you know, that pretty yellow stuff you actually BUY to go in your gardens. I have 50 acres of the dratted weed, well I would, if I wasn't merciless with the bush hog!;)

luckily we dont have any :-D bar the odd plant, we have buttercups, docks and nettles! i had a rag fork/multi weeder at the old place! brilliant piece of kit! defo worth the £20!

thats exactly what happened last year!!!
ive been hammering the fields for a few years now and it really is making a difference, there is just still so much there!!

poor me :(

I no, horrible stuff! I have done a great deal with a friend - I will look after his horse when he goes on holiday for and he comes on friday to spend a day helping me pull ragwort!

CaT - you have my sympathy, empathy, and would you like to trade back embrocation recipes?. This is the first yard where the liveries have done the digging up that I've been on, so it's an interesting time . I've got a couple of those ragwort forks, which seem easier to use :D

I have to admit to having a good natter whilst digging, so can't complain too much lol.

I'm doing mine on Saturday - can't you enlist the help of some willing eager teenagers in return for a "ride" around the paddock on a lead rein???

that would be punnishment not reward!!:D:D:D

besides we're in the back of beyond here, there are no teenages, willing or eager!!

i do but i keep forgetting to reply to myself :(

i had the dogs using me for stalking practise today which was marginally better that the horned 'lambs' charging me and butting me last year. That hurt my back more than the ragwort!!! I went literally flying more times than i have fingers!!

Ahh stop yer moanin' and get on with it :D:D:D:D

I forgot you didn't have lead-rein types.... I can just see it now...

I'm always replying to myself.... Don't take much notice though ;):D

Now have a brilliant image of you being stalked by your dogs. As for the lambs! Wish I could draw cartoons :D:D:D
