I have a problem with my saddle in that when I'm riding with long stirrups I can feel the buckle from my girth and it is a tad too bumpy!!! Does anyone know if you can get a padded buckle guard at all and if so where from. If not has anyone seen an online stockist for long buckle guards as I thought I could put this one over the shorter buckle guard that I already have in the hope that two would give enough padding.

That's an unusual problem, perhaps look for a shorter girth so the buckles end up a bit lower down?

I know it sounds weird! Had the yard owner look at it and shorter girth did cross our minds but the buckles now are so bulky that wasn't sure if that would make a difference or not. Might have to try that if can't get a padded guard. Thanks.

I have this problem with my jumping saddle - getting long buckle guards helped a bit but I'm looking for a saddle with long girth straps instead now :) If you like your saddle, you could ask your saddler to put long straps on and use a dressage girth instead.

ETA - I got my long buckle guards on special order from my saddler - mine are Albion but sure they could knock some up for you as a special order if you can't find them anywhere else.

Your local saddler will be able to make you some if you ask. They will probably be quit expensive though as there is quite a lot of leather in the traditional full size buckle guard.
