My horses know when I change my stance they must go from friend mode and back away .I learnt how to do from from watching a mare .

I'm fed up with a friend of mine waving her hands in my horses' faces to get them to back away from her. She was taught to do this by a Parelli person, initially with a plastic bag tied to a whip. I've asked her not to do it, but she says she has to because she is short ?‍♀️

My horses don't need this! I square my body, they back up, job done. I don't even remember when I learnt it.

If anyone waved a whip with a plastic bag in the face of mine the following would happen.
The cart horse would panic, leave the scene and have years of training blown out of the window. Alice would climb out of her stable window. The maxi cob would give you the look of death before sinking her teeth into you, only her jaw would move, if her feet move you best get running. Dim Tim would think it is new toy and grab it off you before waving it above his head and terrifying any other horses near him or just poke it in his own eye. The old show horse would peer disdainfully down his nose and mutter philistine before wandering off and ignoring you.

All of mine understand 'over'. Dim Tim, the clue is in his name, normally needs 3 requests with a time lag for the message to go from his brain to his feet. The maxi cob will question the request and move when the 'over' is followed up with a glare at her. The others barely need asking and move away as I move around them.
