It seems the land owner has been keeping a keen eye on the charity fundraiser and wanted the lot.

It is disgusting. I made a donation and wondered at the time if there was a cast-iron contract in place - cynical me.
Apparently the offer was in writing, but there can't have been a formal contract in place and the owner has just laughed in their face. I fear that this is down to not being very experienced in the nasty world of business and big land deals. Any formal legal action would obviously cost lots of money.

It seems that they can move to another place a couple of miles away so lets hope that they have permanence there.

That move is temporary whilst they find themselves a permanent home, they are hoping to stay as local to Teddington as possible.
