Ive just moved to the area and I have my horse on diy livery for the time being at a private yard in between reading and thatcham. My job means that ideally I would like my horse on part or full livery and I have looked at a space at a small yard , it has post and rail grazing which the staff poo pick daily, its a little wet at the moment but to be expected but there is still plenty of grass and the gate ways are hard standing.
There is brilliant hacking and a 20 x 60 arena with lights and mirrors, yard owner says it it levelled every day and it never gets wet.
The hacking by the sounds of it is amazing, I've looked on the os map and there are bridleways every where.
They are currently charging 80 per week for five day part and 100 a week for seven day part. For this I get rugs changed and boots on, turned out, mucked out, bed down, day nets in, night nets filled, water changed, feeds made up but not included, horse caught, feet washed and picked.
If they are in early they are kept skipped out and have hay. They also have checks last thing and skipped out.
It includes and lib hay ( although a small extra charge if in more in bad weather) and one bale of bedding a week.
The staff are qualified and the yard owner is highly qualified.
So is that about the going rate in the area or should I look about a bit more? I've looked at a few others but struggling to find anywhere that can do what I need doing!
