Ive just moved to the area and I have my horse on diy livery for the time being at a private yard in between reading and thatcham. My job means that ideally I would like my horse on part or full livery and I have looked at a space at a small yard , it has post and rail grazing which the staff poo pick daily, its a little wet at the moment but to be expected but there is still plenty of grass and the gate ways are hard standing.
There is brilliant hacking and a 20 x 60 arena with lights and mirrors, yard owner says it it levelled every day and it never gets wet.
The hacking by the sounds of it is amazing, I've looked on the os map and there are bridleways every where.
They are currently charging 80 per week for five day part and 100 a week for seven day part. For this I get rugs changed and boots on, turned out, mucked out, bed down, day nets in, night nets filled, water changed, feeds made up but not included, horse caught, feet washed and picked.
If they are in early they are kept skipped out and have hay. They also have checks last thing and skipped out.
It includes and lib hay ( although a small extra charge if in more in bad weather) and one bale of bedding a week.
The staff are qualified and the yard owner is highly qualified.
So is that about the going rate in the area or should I look about a bit more? I've looked at a few others but struggling to find anywhere that can do what I need doing!

Yes , zoelouisem! I'm finding it a bit of a shock from where we have moved from!!

Haha yer I've always lived and kept horses here so used to.
When I see what some people pay in other areas I get very jealous!!
I know of some places charging £170-£200 a month just for a DIY stable and grazing nothing else included!!

Wow! I pay 80 (soon to be 85) a week for 7 day part with feed including and very good hacking in Surrey and I am very close to London so pay a premium :)

Well been to have a look at this one and another just down the road, the other one is much more expensive and you have to go further for good hacking unless you get a permit to ride on the estate , they seemed to have slightly more land for turn out.
tbh, theres good points and not perfect points at both. food for thought !the first yard doesnt have space until next month as one of the horses is going out on loan. the second has immediate space

I'm moving down South if that's what livery charges are. I'm paying more for DIY, plus feed, bedding and extras here in the midlands.

For £80 with hay and bedding included, its pretty good (unless grazing is very limited.)
