Our SJ had pedal ostietis - I have the world’s largest collection of x-rays and MRIs over the lifetime of this horse. So large I’ve given them to a specialist vet practice to help train their AI models on the progression of such.
If you reach out I can give you the details of a veterinary practice who has developed methodologies managing for pedal ostietis. He will work with you remotely, and is one of the few vets I’ve encountered that can actually work effectively in an ecosystem of allied providers such as barefoot trimmers and farriers. Gun at using data sets as well to educate so you know what your options are.
He is also a researcher at UQ and has some great lectures you can get.
Our horse did best in composite shoes whilst she was competing. Her hooves grow fast so it was a 3-4 weeks reshoe cycle. Expensive but it worked.
She is 24, competed in high level SJ until 13, then a Pony Club horse until 19 and then retired. Her feet still need a lot of expense even as a paddock ornament.
