5 horses?! I have 2 to do and can just about cope with that. One is mine and the other is on hunting livery.

I work 8-4 Monday - Friday. My commute is just about an hour from the yard, yard is 15 min drive from home. I get up at 5.15, out of the house and off to the yard at 6.15. Feed, turn out and muck out both stables etc. Leave for work by 7am. I get clean and changed when I get to work

Then in the evening I usually get back to the yard for about 5.15. Bring in, ride mine, sort out the hunter and then collapse at home!

5!? I struggle with 1!!!!

I get up there at 7.30, muck out, put hay nets up and turn out. leave for work soon after 8. get back to yard around half 5 or 6 and make feeds up, do anything else that needs doing and maybe ride, get home around half 7. works quite well and doesn't take too long.

Occasionally have to do my mums as well and routines pretty much the same, just have to get up earlier.

Can you get anybody to help out with your horses? If you look on any horse website there are tons of grooms or qualified people looking for work and won't charge too much.

I muckout and exercise one in the morning before work then muckout and exercise the other one after work. In bad weather they get exercised as and when. I'm about to start exercising two for my YO but that won't be until end of March so hopefully I'll have more light

I work full time in quite a demanding job. I also have 2 sons/OH etc, but only one horse. I took the decision horse would have to be on full livery as work can be very unpredictable....like last week when I worked from 8.30 to 8/9 at night every night and will have to work all this weekend. On a good week I can ride 2 days a week on weekdays - fire sons out of door and then ride for an hour or so and start work a little later. May not be an option for you with 5!!

I have 2 horses. I work full time between 10.30am to 7pm. My young TB is on full livery and my 33 yrd old is on assisted DIY. (This is so I spend time with each horse every day - I ride the young lad, and care for the old one. I don't have the time to have both on DIY)
I arrive at yard at 7.45am. Breakfasts have already been given at 7am.

I put the young lad on the horsewalker, then I turn-out the old boy, and do the old boys stable and feeds. That takes about half hour, Then I get my TB off the walker and tack him up. I vary between hacking out, schooling or lunging, but I do 45 mins to an hour every morning, and he's already warmed up. He can be very sharp, but he's always much better from having the half hour walk first.

I often don't have time to get to the yard in the evening, but if I do, it's just to see them and groom them.

I much prefer riding in the morning. The school gets crowded with other liveries in the evening, but first thing I have it all to myself!

As my first job was shift work I had to go the full livery route as hours changed too much for any sort of routine & included full (12-14 hour) days & nights. It was great on the days off as I got to ride for "hours" and as I kept mine in Epping Forest it was fab!

Now got a 8am or 10am (changes day by day) to 5.30pm job. Have mine on DIY with help from the family in bad weather but as yard is less than 10 mins from home & on way to work I either feed/turn out/muck out/set ready for night when starting at 8 then ride in evening. Or ride in the morning, turn out & go home to change before work then do most jobs after work when on 10am start. Leave house at 6.0/6.30 every day & leave yard 7.30 on early start mornings, get home about 7.30.8.0 each night but that's just for 1. No school but still on Epping Forest so lots of fab hacking, with local village for those dark nights.

I cewrtainly wouldn't manage doing 5 DIY with a full time job if all being worked.

I'm lucky that I work flexi-time so can adjust my hours to suit (within reason).
I have one horse who is in at night in winter and out 24/7 in summer. In winter I get up to the yard by 7am, I ride or lunge, muck out and get nets etc done for evening. I get to work about 8.30, finish around 5 and bring my horse in on the way home.
In summer I stop off about the same time to check on him and feed, get into work before 8 and try to leave just after 4 to go and ride.

I certainly couldn't do 5. 1 is more than enough when we've had such a bad winter. I work 8 to 5 normally, get up at 530am, at yard for 6, home by 7am for quick change and breakfast. At yard by 545pm to sometimes ride (light in school) or just bring in and put to bed.

I'm on DIY but the YO feeds and turns out in the morning so I just have to muck out, ride, make feeds at night. Usually get to the yard around 6pm and I'm there for about 2 hours.

I have 5 and work 8.30-4.30 every day... They all live out so get breakfast in the field in the morning, same in the evening, and as it gets lighter in the evenings i start to exercise. (i dont have a floodlit area...

I work 8am - 4.30pm ish and only have the one on DIY. Moved him to 5 minutes away from work and the yard is about 15minutes from home. Mon- Fri I'm up at 5.45am to do dog, cat and nine chickens and get to yard for about 7.15am have him fed, turned out and mucked out with bed up get changed and to work for 8am. Put bed down when I get back from work bring in and work him. He has two week days off and bed getting full muck out (banks etc) at weekends. Generally get home about half 6 and repeat morning routine in reverse chickens , cat dog and tea for me and other half!!
