and who are on diy livery (grass or stabled)
what time do you get home in the evening and what will you have done i.e. ridden and mucked out, just ridden, just mucked out etc

Finish work at 5. Home by 6.30pm ish. But that's not with riding. When my horse is bought in to work I imagine it'll be more like 8pm.

The day I am rich enough not to have to work full time will be the happiest day of my life!!

I'm on DIY - Stabled at present. Get up at 6.10am Feed, muck out and get everything ready for evening before work. Eventually I will ride in the mornings too.

Last night I did a 40 min session with my youngster - got to the yard about 5.50pm and left about 7.30. home by 20 to 8.

I get up at 530 so that I can have less to do after work and spend more time with OH.

Mon to Sat Yard by 6am, muck out sharers mare, fill haynets, muck out Lottie, muck out B&I empty poop, fill water containers for evening.

6:45 tack up B or I (alternate days) ride for half hour put everything back in stables or field

7:30 go home get ready for work.

Mon to Fri Evening arrive from work about 6:30. On turn out days just lay beds, make feeds and fetch in, home by 7ish. On stabled days shearer will have done her mare and Lottie so just skip out B&I refill haynets, do hay and water, make feeds and put to bed, drive sharer home. I'm normally home just after 7:30 to walk dogs quickly.

Sat I finish at 2 so yard for a hack by about 3.

Of course in the summer this will change I'll ride longer before work and only have Lottie to muck out and I should get home after work in time for a hack or a bbq with OH! :)

I work from 9am - 6pm Mon - Fri. Get up at 6am, walk the dogs for 30 mins, shower & out the door by 7am, down the yard for 7.30am, turn out & muck out 2 horses, fill haynets & water buckets, leave yard at 8.30am & in office for 9am. As I do mornings my sister does the evening routine. I get to ride Sat & Sun. Can't wait for the evenings to stay lighter for longer then I can ride after work as well.

It's tough sometimes getting out of a warm comfy bed especially on cold winter mornings but once up I'm okay, but have to be in bed for 10pm as by then I'm poopered!! :)

Alarm goes off at 5:45am, I get ready and drop into the yard on my way to work (thankfully don't have to go all out bimbo to work...), in the yard at quarter/ten to 7 - bed up, hay in, strip rugs/leg wraps as necessary, leave at 7 to get to work for 8. Back at the yard for about 6:15pm, skip out and hay mine, ride mine and one for my YO, bed down mine and feed both - usually fall in the front door at about half 8ish. Oh for a lottery win and to be finished at the yard at tea time...

Im on DIY, boys are out 24/7 so no mucking out or poo picking at the moment.

Finish work at 4.30 arrive at yard around 5.10pm, fetch in brush tack up & ride, feed, turn out and home sometimes around 7.15-8.00pm. If not riding and just a quick head & tail check and hay field ;) home by 6.00/6.30

Once field is harrowed, will have to poo pick as well, so may add an extra 1/2 hour onto the day.

Get up at 4.30 am, muck out, turnout and go straight to work. Back to yard on way home from work and if not riding, bring in, feed etc and get home at 7.30 pm or ride and get home at 8.30 pm.

By the weekend I'm knackered but I wouldn't be without my horse!

Last year I moved from DIY stabled to DIY living out 24/7, to coincide with me and OH moving in and buying our first house together. We both work full time, and before we bought the house I used to stable every night (two horses) and ride quite regularly after work. Didn;t see OH very much!

Now they are turned out 24/7 life is MUCH easier, though I no longer have a school so couldn;t really ride much in the winter. BUT, all I had to do was feed and poo pick, change rugs etc. I finish work at 5.15 and can be home by 6.15 if I don't do much. I have to say, moving house and horses has reduced the travelling down to 12 miles a day instead of 40 and this helps a LOT.

I have mine at home so its easier in that I don't have to travel to a yard, but I don't get home until 8.30pm.

I start at 10 so feed, water and poo-pick fields in the morning, plus a quick groom and check feet, then get home at 8.30, feed and poo-pick field, check water. I only ride at weekends when I'm off because I only have hacking and can't do that in dark.

I too work full time & on DIY Livery, my weekday routine includes: -

Alarm goes off 5:20 a.m - get myself, OH & 3 Cats sorted before leaving the house at 06:50 a.m. to be at the stables for 7:00 ish.

I turn Belle out & muck out, i like to get everything done so that there are no chores left waiting for me after i finish work at 5:00 p.m.

I class this as my chill time prior to going home :D

I get to stables bout 5:30ish after work (dependant on traffic). There is nothing else to do but bring Belle in ride/feed & her & get her ready for bed.

This enables me be home for no later than 7:00 pm if not riding (i do like to have a natter before going home lol) or 7:30 p.m. on the nights i ride.

This is a great routine for me as helps to keep the OH happy lol :)

I start work at 8 and finish at 4, at yard about 4.30 then ride, feed/hay and poo pick if it's light, i'm very lucky that the lady I share the field with lives on site so poo picks in the morning mon-fri then i do it at weekends or any chance i'm there that its light! i(n summer it's no issue) normally home 7-7.30pm. 2 days a week i start work at 9, so get to the yard for 6.30/ as soon as it's light in the winter ride, feed, hay, leave yard 8.30am at work for 9(ish!)
I only go up once a day as they live out 24/7 and are checked each end of the day regardless

Toast & cereal for dinners, or slowcooker type of dinner if really cold & bbq in summer - as for housework WTF is that??? ;)

Haha same! Dinner is something that goes in the microwave or cooks quickly. I normally don't eat til 9.30-10pm as I also have to sort out 5 dogs and 3 cats when I get home lol. Housework is done on Sundays...sometimes :o

DIY livery and poo-picking field every day is in my contract.
I changed my hours so they suit the ponies better. I now work 6pm until 7am and one weekend in 3 I do 7am til 6pm. It means I get a block of 5 or 7 days off depending on which shift I'm on.

Ponies are fed between 6am and 8am with hay etc. I then go up between 3pm and 6pm to give them hay. - Through winter it was 3pm so it was still light - I'm now trying to leave it as late as poss.

Because I'm on nights, I get up at 2pm and ponies are done about 3-4pm so I have time to get ready for work. Days I'm working, I have quick meals - anything that can be chucked in the oven etc. Days I'm off I catch up on house work and cook from scratch.

I also try to ride pony at least 4 times a week and also do ground work with youngster every other day.

First visit of the day between 6.30am and 7. Feed, muck out, turn out, tidy up, night net into steamer, get ready for evening visit. Evening visit usually arrive between 6 and 6.30pm. Skip out, ride/lunge (if not a day off), feed and morning net into steamer. If needed, make up feeds/nets etc. I usually get home around 8pm depending upon time I arrive and what needs to be done. I usually schools 2-3 times a week, lung once a week and one day off mid week. Hacked out Friday (by a friend) and usually both weekend days if no lesson/competition.

When I commuted to work I used to go in the morning then drive straight to work, drive straight back to yard at night from work, so was out of the house almost 14 hours a day!

Up @ 7.30 - Chuck hair up quich shower (some days I just wash my fringe if it's still stuck to my head in a riding hat shape from the night before) Slap makeup on face, Clothes on, Kiss OH, forget my lunch & out the door by 7.50 !
Arrive at farm for 8am get dragged up to the field by horse number 1 then back again to drag horse number 2 up to the field, who likes taking time to stop and look at the thing that has been there forever or ponder the facts of life, nibble my hand/hair/face/scarf or other time wasting activities !!! Dash back from field with my eyes streaming in the wind to ensure my make up is nice and patchy. Get hay nets & buckets out of stables then 8.20back in car dash to work 8.30 blunder through office door with hay in my hair !

5pm back in car
5.15 back at farm ( I must spped in the morning as it only takes 10 to get to work !!)
Beds Nets bring in feed brush feet then I am home for 7 if I don't stand about talking that is !
I've just started riding again so those nights i'm about 30/40 mins later !

All house work and cooking is done by me !! OH is crap for that , I cook proper meals from scratch each night and clean on a saturday afternoon (normally in my jods smelling of poo )

I also manage to go to Yoga 3 times a week too - gosh I'm cream crackered just typing that lot!!

I also work full time and look after two on DIY........

I try and get to the yard for 7 a.m, turn out and muck out the two and leave everything ready for the evening.

I get changed at the yard and leave for work at 8.30 a.m, proabably with a bit of that horsey aroma!

Finish work at 5.30 and get to the yard for 6. Then just bring in, feed and pick out feet etc - I spend longer faffing and grooming if the OH has football but I'm usually home for 7.

I try and get up early and ride before work a couple of times a week but in the depths of winter its just too dark so I only ride at the weekends.

Can't wait for the summer - they both live out 24/7 with no poo picking so all I do is turn up, fly spray, feed and RIDE.

As someone else said - i like to go to bed at 10 p.m every night so only leaves me a few hours each night to do all the other chores (cats, guinnea pigs) and sit on the HHO of course!

Another one on DIYand working full time!

My day goes as follows:

5.35 get up, get ready for work, leave for yard at 6.30. Poo pick, then ride, then feed, so I can beat work for 9. Finish at 6.30, so straight to yard, luckly hes out 24/7 now, so just chuck out hay and feed, then home for 7.30 (depending on traffic), dinner then bed!

work 9 to 4.30 Saturdays, so lie in (ha!) as OH does him in morning. Then get to yard, ride, poo pick, feed hay etc etc, home for 7ish

Sundays is my day of rest, where Igo for a casual hack, do chores etc, all done in about 3 hrs, so Ican get an early night, to start it all again!

Social life, whats that??

Get up at 4.30 am, muck out, turnout and go straight to work. Back to yard on way home from work and if not riding, bring in, feed etc and get home at 7.30 pm or ride and get home at 8.30 pm.

By the weekend I'm knackered but I wouldn't be without my horse!

Good grief!!! How far do you commute/what hours do you work??? Even I don't have to get up this early with 4 to do, an hour commute and I ride before work!!

If I ride then I'm home by 7 ish...then got 6 dogs to walk so usually I sit down by 9 most evenings!!! I do sometimes wander why I bother having a house, I leave it at 6.30am and not back in it til 9pm ...:(

My God!! I am on the first page of this thread and I can't believe how amazing and dedicated we all are! I thought rising at 6am was early enough but one on here gets up at 4.30!!!

I think personally, the hardest to manage is my OH, I try to be home by 6.30 (I arrange for my sister to do the evening shift) so we can cook & sit down together. Weekends I try to catch up with housework & the washing as well as getting down to yard for ride & chat to others.

Haha same! Dinner is something that goes in the microwave or cooks quickly. I normally don't eat til 9.30-10pm as I also have to sort out 5 dogs and 3 cats when I get home lol. Housework is done on Sundays...sometimes :o

Yeap Sunday morning house work gets done in around and hour..if it's lucky!! I invested in a steam cleaner a few months ago...and it's fab!!! I have tiled floors downstairs (6 dogs...who needs carpet??) and it literally cleans them all in 5 minutes.

I get up around 5.30am or 5.45am depending on whether OH is going to walk the dog or not. Get to yard about 6.15am - feed three, muck out two, turnout three or four. Back home for about 7.20am, shower, change and in work by around 8am. If I ride in the mornings, add extra 45 mins on to those times. Finish work about 5pm and depending on whether riding in the evening or not, I can be at the yard for 5.15pm, feed and then go home for 5.45-6pm. If riding, add extra 45mins-hour on.

I'm on DIY livery but it includes turnout as the YO doesn't like people up there early and am she also skips my stable out and brings my old pony in for me.

I get up at 6am, walk the dogs, catch train at 7.30. Then get home at 6 and go straight to farm where I feed pony, re-skip stable, hang net, do more nets and feeds and groom him. Usually home again at about 7.10.

I now have a second ned and he lives out so when I get up there tonight I'll bring him in and feed him and do chores while they eat. Pick feet out and check over etc.

When the clocks go forward I'll start working my new horse after work in the week. Don't expect to be home until about 8-8.30 on those nights.

On yard for 6.00

Feed and turnout then back for breakfast about 7.00

go to work

Back on Yard for 6.00 pm Muck out, groom and basic handling then feed and home by 8.30. Just glad both are youngsters and no riding involved just now.

Weekends as much time as I can spend

Yeap Sunday morning house work gets done in around and hour..if it's lucky!! I invested in a steam cleaner a few months ago...and it's fab!!! I have tiled floors downstairs (6 dogs...who needs carpet??) and it literally cleans them all in 5 minutes.

Being in Spain we have all tiled floors too (just as well with 5 dogs and the horses at home...there is usually more hay and hair in the house than outside ) Its much easier to keep clean though.
