I know about long term steroids in humans, but not so much horses I'm afraid! Although it sounds like the issues are fairly similar from what you've mentioned.
At least she's started to perk up and be a bit more normal, seeing her quality of life improving must feel good
I'm sure there will be someone else on these forums who has had a horse on long term steroids who can offer a bit more personal experience
Was the thing on the white blood cell test an Eosinophil? If my brain is still working from revision-itis, I believe you get a raised eosinophil count in parasitic infections with humans. (Amongst other things)
