Petition to get rid of the intrusive ads on the forum.

Quite a few of us are obviously irritated by the ads at the side of the forum. Please add your post here if you really dislike them.

For me, if the forum always ran this type of ad I would more than likely stop using the forum.

Even if you are just a lurker, please just post bump, so HHO gets an idea of how their advertising is going down with forum users.
 
:confused: perhaps I'm missing something but this is a free to use forum, that means that the running costs have to come from advertising - ban the adverts and the forum becomes financially unviable? :confused:
 
I have to agree, also it seems to have some hidden effects in blocking user inputs. Each time I have tried to post a reply and accidentaly triggered this damn advert ,I have had to shut down the advert and return to the previous page then try again. I wonder if HHO agreed to this when they took on this advert.I doubt it!
 
I don't normally get them popping up ...but tonight :eek::eek::eek: :mad::mad: if i see that stupid car and hear that stupid advert ONE more time .. i am going to throw the flipping computer through the window .. (or just log off hho!!!) lol

Normal ads are fine, but this is one which makes you jump out of your skin if you have the volume on and covers half the screen.
 
... I've clearly got an ancient browser as I have absolutely no annoying adverts ever, just a few discrete links to click on if i choose :o

And how will you feel with half a dozen such adverts running. I for one will move to another forum.
 
I think it must be the ads that are causing me to have massive issues using the forum on my phone as well, i used to be able to browse the forum no probs on it but recently its been a nightmare. I dont seem to have any issue when im on my PC though.

as per my above post I don't seem to be seeing what everybody else is, although agree if they keep interupting with noise and moving across the screen that would be anoying but all I see is a list of pictures & links - never ever had a noise or movement from this site ;)

I have no problem with adverts in general, and understand they fund the forum, but if they are actually preventing users from enjoying and even using the forum, then they're too much.

I think HHO would have been aware - it is positioned so that you can hardly get to the scroll down bar without setting it off..
 
I've never experienced one of these before tonight.....but that bl**dy car advert taking up all my screen every two minutes is driving me CRAAAAZZZZYYYYYY AAAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!

Don't mind adverts, but I do mind ones that open and block my view of everything else on the screen and make a loud noise that sets my dog off.

The offending advert opens if you accidently cross over it to go to the side of your screen, I must have opened it so many times and not once intentionally.
 
That particular ad has been driving me nuts all day. It's also on IE homepage!!

I fully understand that the ads pay for the forum, but, frankly, if there are too many like todays then I doubt there will be a forum to pay for. As well as being annoying it also seems to have slowed the forum down, yet again.
 
Are any of you using Firefox as I am and don't get any adverts at all, not even the side ones which is absolute bliss (and I've never seen that car one, no wonder it's annoying)?
If you use Firefox then download the adblocker it has and it will stop all annoying adverts for you.

I use exactly the same combination and no adverts whatever. :)
 
Tried to post agreement last night, but 7 attempts and every one got noisy flipping halo ad-each time its a complete switch off browser window as you simply cannot get it to close:mad::mad::mad:
 
Think I am in the minority here, but I dont get any of these ads on my computer at home or at work! A;though seeing the advert that has been put up on this post I can see why it would be annoying!

Its not the horse adverts ... its the x box and coffee machine ones - and i am quite happy to see them - i just do not want them leaping open every time i even breathe by them.... HHO get their money from the horse adverts - and these have now been squidged to the bottom to be replaced by ads for x box and the like. So if i was a big advertiser with HHO i would certainly be moving to another site - as whats the point the folk i want to target are not seeing ads for horses etc.... but are getting mighty fed up.

By the way they are not on in the day :)
