I think i may have to think of starting a loss of use claim for my gelding as he has had on / off recurrent lameness , and seems to increase each time, my vet has looked at him sevearal time sand there is not really anything showing in any tests, x rays etc .
I purchased him for £2750 and he is insured for this amount , i did not have him vetted and did not need to have vet certificate for insurance inception , i think as he is not seriously high value ,
I dont know how much I would receive for him , for a loss of use claim , have been told by some people it is 60 per cent of value or 100 per cent of value it can vary???
has anyone any experience of pet plan and specifically their loss of use procedures ??? will it drag on forever or are they quite good and staright forward ???? since his lameness obviously stops me riding him and jumping and doing dressage and cross country , he is loss of use for these activities , he may be ok to hack lightly from time to time , would this be ok for loss of use ???? also his lameness hasnt been diagnosed as x, y or z so may they stall due to not definete diagnosis ????
im very worried about him and what i will do but also the prospect of how i would be able to get a similar horse to relace him . i would keep him retired as loss of use as long as he was field sound and pain free and would make decision to put him to sleep if that was in his best interest .
any ideas be great thanks guys .
