I always fill up in Tescos, and have been concerned for a week or two about my car which has suddenly started chugging like an old bus, keep expecting it to cut out when we are stationery, was going to have to get it serviced at some point so just thought it needed a tune up - now I'm wondering

Girl at the yard fell foul of Tesco petrol last week.

In fact she is a member on here. We didnt twig until this morning when there was a mechanic interviewed on BBC news holding the exact car part which she has had to have replaced! - £300!!!!!!!

NB VICSTER>>>>Dont forget to phone Trading Standards!!!!

Yep -filled up at TESCO in Bury St Edmunds on 13/2/7. Engine management light came on Wednesday 14/2/7. My mechanic plugged me into his machine and it diagnosed engine oxygen filter malfunction.

Fortunately enough I had only put £10's worth in and Vauxhall tipped us off that it was lookng like it was TESCO petrol so I added some Slick50 and refilled my tank from Esso..... My mechanic removed the wanring code from my engine system and it seems to be ok again.....

Fortunately our Tesco convenience store sells Esso petrol ! Dunno why, it just does lol!

I'd be majorly hacked off if i had to fork out £300 for a new wotsit doo-dah

There are now not enough oxygen sensors in the country to repair all the damaged cars! My car is very low on fuel. How old does a horse have to be to be broken to harness...?

My car is well and truly dead after filling the tank right up at morrisons the other day. Was shuddering this morning, and on return journey starting pouring white smoke.
Will be looking for a new car as the cost of fixing it is almost more than it's worth!

I never use supermarket petrol... someone warned me against it a couple of years ago and now I'm glad they did.

Hard to believe that the supermarkets involved are still denying it's anything to do with the petrol... with the huge profits they make they should be stepping up and admitting responsibility and compensating everyone affected asap

well they are now saying there may of been sillicon in the petrol which is causing the problem!!!

Thankfully my car is fine but then i rarely fill up at supermarkets anymore as none on my route to or from work! also its probably too old to have a oxyen thingy me jiggy anyway

My other half filled up at tesco's about the 15/02 and the next day the car was behaving very strangley it kept cutting out and having eratic (sp) revs.
Now the car is sat at the top of my road and we are driving around in a big white van lookin like right chavs lol!!!

think mine has been affected to, it sounds like its going to cut out everytime i stop at a junction or roundabout. i usually fill up at tesco to, think ill use the esso garage from now on. will get mechanic to check it out next time im passing, they were saying if your having problems to get a mechanic to look at the car and if its fuel related and you have petrol receipts you could claim off the petrol station or something. i dont suppose many people keep their receipts though although i have to for tax purposes.

My Oh's car highters occasionally, and it has for th past 8/9 months since Optimax changed to VPower (think thats the 2). He has just had to buy a new oxygen sensor and he got it for £11!!!

He has told me that there are garages apparently charging HUNDREDS to drain tanks and replace sensors!!
Outrageous!!

But I cannot believe that they denied there was a problem until confronted by a higher power!

Also noticed that at our local asda, prices of ALL fuel seems to have dropped by 5p!!
