I was expecting such horrors on the way to the yard that as soon as I saw her I was relieved! As far as I could tell, she didn't seem to have done anything really awful, although I was worried about her hips... Right now I'm just ecstatic she's going to be fine
Thanks Jade. Vet warned me there would be a LOT of swelling so I was very pleasantly surprised this morning! Stitches aren't very neat, but hey-ho, I can live with Scarface
Yes, PF's stitches aren't very neat, are they? They damaged a vein getting the chips of bone out, and were more concerned with stopping the bleeding (you know how head wounds seem to gush!) than aesthetics, but vet did say there would probably be very little scarring.
Oddly enough they did a VERY neat job on her leg!
It certainly could've been worse. She was in the jumping lane, but she was grazing in there, not jumping.... at least not until she spooked and jumped out. I put her in there because the fencing is very high and post and rail, so presumably secure.
I had to search for these photos after you mentioning on my earlier thread that you had put some up
.
Poor PF
. Well silly PF really. Wound on face looks like it was a big one but thankfully there was still some skin left to stitch. Hardly any swelling, just like the mare here, she had absolutely no swelling on her head. Hope all goes well with the healing and that baby hasn't been affected.
