Photos. Would you ride this horse ?

A breeder in France bought a top Arab stallion from the UK he wasn't cheap and basically got into financial trouble, he left him in a bare field to die basically and he ended up in a slaughter house, his previous owner with the help of some lovely people over there found him and got him back for her.

I will try and find out who they were and where they come from because they were amazing, she couldn't have got him back without them and they got him healthy enough to travel back because he was on deaths door when they found him.

If you friend is French, tell her or someone over there to report to La Fondation Brigitte Bardot !

It's a very important Fondation in France, please report quickly, you can trust Brigitte Bardot to do something very quickly.

She is an ex actress and runs a wonderful animal rescue, she also has lot's of power in France and isn't frightened to fight for animal's right.

I would most certainly not ride that poor horse. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a retired Trotter, they were very numerous and cheap over here for a long time. However my 27 year old French Trotter looks more up to being ridden than that poor animal (she is retired).
Your friend should contact the Maire, would is responsible for the welfare of all living beings in his/her town (commune in french).
I would also contact the gendarmerie / police nationale and complain for animal cruelty and neglect. If there is someone in France that can call, there is a new emergency number for animal cruelty, 3677.
 
I have been on many riding holidays all over the world, and while we are very accustomed to seeing essentially obese horses here, I have never had any as thin as that and I will not ride one which is lame.
If no one complains, they will continue. It needs to hit them in the pocket.

Absolutely disgusting, your friend did the right thing in refusing to ride, how could any right thinking person enjoy riding a horse in that state is beyond me. I really hope something can be done to help these poor animals. I'm becoming so sickened with all the animal abuse I seem to be seeing these days.
 
Crikey, this is much worse than I was expecting, too. There is no comparison between the UK trail horse with a sore back that I refused to ride earlier this year and that emaciated horse in the pic šŸ˜³. ā€˜Myā€™ horse was in good bodily condition with no open sores, but was tender on ā€˜old scarsā€™ and was resentful and reactive on palpating the back.

Absolutely dreadful that the French horse is expected to work, and that other punters (not your friend) will shut their eyes to this to crack on with their hols on sick and skinny horses šŸ™„.

I hope that there are authorities in France who will look into this asap and shut this operation down. The agency needs reporting too.
 
I cannot imagine even the most basic rider with a little empathy for their horses would even dream of getting on one of these poor animals. Shame on those who did not do as your friend did, a person of integrity and compassion within the horse world seems to be becoming a rare thing lately. Disgusted and so sad for those poor animals, almost all of which have already worked in other spheres before ending up at this death camp to work out their final days.:mad:
