Don't be too sure. We had a visit from one in Northumberland!!

The little (or rather large) sod was in my bath one morning. I have terrible eyesight so I leaped into the shower and looked down towards the plughole...I thought to myself hmmmm, I usually don't leave huge clumps of hair in the bath so, fearing the worst I jumped out of the shower, headed into the bedroom to grab my specs and stepped back into the bathroom for a closer look. The blasted thing was the size of a outstretched hand!!!!!

Needless to say, I went without a shower that day. AND, it took my macho OH all day to get round to it's 'removal'
 
bl**dy hell thats mahoosive!! I feel asthough i have got things crawling on me and my hairs are totally on end now!! You are one v brave person to take piccys, i would have been gone like a shot!!

Actually, there's an idea - you could hire it out to eat all the flies! It would surely clear a yard in a day! :D

That is HUGE.
I would have passed out if i saw that in my stable.

Don,t worry mate it's probably just checking out your pad to see if it's a suitable size to raise a whole heap of babies - hope your stable is at least 10 x 12 or better still a foaling box. :eek::D:D:eek:

Too bloody right! I can't get over the amount of weird bugs down here - I remember the first time I saw a May Bug, I have never run so fast in my life!!!

I'm generally OK with spiders but that one is blinking HUGE!!!

That's good news because we need ANOTHER photo with a 50p piece next to it so we can properly gross out at how big it is :D
 
I can deal with little spiders on the farm or just outside, also long as they dont touch me just jesus, if i saw this oh god, usain bolt would have had a run for his money. litterally!!

it actually makes me want to be sick a little bit!
 
Come on ladies - its only a spider - I'm the one who has to deal with them in our house, the OH doesn't like them, or bugs, or mice, or rats, or snakes. Me I just deal with them, pick them up and put them outside.
 
Thats horrific. Urgh I would have had to of had it removed before you would get me anywhere near that stable again. I can do any other insects and have no issue with mice, rats but spiders? no thanks!
 
Gosh - that is gigantic!

Sanolly - I just looked up may bug as I wasn't sure what one was. Apparently they are a type cockchafer! :)
 
It was probably just Tegenaria gigantea or the giant house spider. No big deal, they tend to scurry away. Poke them gently on the leg and they will most likely shoot off, although like most spiders they can jump if they feel threatened.
