Pig oil is used on Pigs when showing, hence the name. Not sure what it is made of but it isn't pigs

As a stop gap you could try using lard - we use it on the harness horses to help stop the hopples rubbing and speed healing if they're thin skinned, it needs to be the stuff with salt in it though. (as recommended by an old welsh farmer who we thought was a bit bonkers at the time but it did the trick

If you can't find it quickly then when i ran out i used olive oil mixed with wound powder which worked just the same as pig oil and sulphur. I used pig oil and sulphur on my mare last winter and her mud fever cleared up and hasn't surfaced since *touching wood frantically* and i used olive oil and wound powder on my gelding when i couldn't get the other mix and that worked great on clearing his legs up too.

I got ours off ebay. I rubbed in on the cob behind his knees as they were getting cracked, then 2 days later the skin is lovely. I have got sulphur too but thats at home under the sink... not much good there eh..
