Pig Ugly Horses?

Looks and colour have to be my last consideration when buying a horse, I like certain types of horse and I am not too keen on others and gravitate naturally towards what I like, same with dogs, I suppose that is why we have so many different breeds.

I have seen lots of people end up hurt because they made the mistake of buying on looks but every horse deserves an owner that loves him/her for who they are and what they give.

If i'm honest, if I was looking for a horse and I found one that was near perfect and within my budget i'd definitely go and look.
To me, looks aren't everything - And i'd rather have a horse that did what I needed and looked bad, than a horse that was gorgeous but was a total pain in the backside! Although, I find the majority of horses good looking. Have yet to come across an ugly one. From what i've seen on here, you all have a pretty good taste in horses.. :o

He is a nice horse but just not my usual type. I look after myself well and want to feel that we are both looking good when out. Sounds shallow I know but I know everyone finds different looks in horses attractive like we do with partners and even if I had a date with a man who ticked all the boxes, if he looked terrible then it would put me off him a bit..

Troll and an illiterate one at that. Since when has there been a colour called "dunn"?

Hi all, you'll probably shoot me down for saying this, but here goes, I would never buy an ugly horse! as a kid my mom always had Arabs because of their looks and temperament and she kind of brain washed me, So I would always choose a horse with a pretty face, long natural mane etc. :o

Nobody will shoot you down for stating your opinion. You'll only be bombarded if you use sentences like 'Pig ugly horse'.
Welcome to HHO :D

I like pig ugly horses :D you have a pig ugly one it make me look better as I am pig ugly :P I wonder if horses know they are ugly or good looking or worse they look at us and think my god arnt they pig ugly things with only 2 legs and pointy things on there faces :D

Can you imagine?!
''Damn Horris that human is ugly, overweight, unbrushed.''
''Yes Jasper, I agree, in need of a good groom and some loving''

:o

well i actually think liking the way your horse looks IS important! i wouldnt go to view a horse i didnt like the look of regardless of whether it fullfilled my criteria perfectly and i think its shallow to say it wouldnt be a factor in spending a hell of a lot of money to buy and keep a horse!!

This.

It doesn't make someone a bad person if they don't happen to think every single horse is nice looking, or if they don't want to spend money on one which they don't think is nice looking.

I don't like coloured cobs (or traditional feathered leg cobs). I personally think a lot of them are 'ugly'. I do not for one minute wish them any harm in the world, and am sure that lots of people would love them just as much as I love my horse. But I simply wouldn't buy one. I buy what suits me and my tastes.

Maybe she's very young? Or dyslexic?

I don't think you look any better for calling someone illiterate than OP does for calling a horse 'pig ugly'.

In fact, it's a lot worse. Horses can't read or log into internet forums.

Fair point there Moomin! Didn't even consider dyslexia! :o

Most dyslexics are fully aware where their spellchecker is, though, often moreso than other people who don't have to put a lot of thought into their messages ;)

I suppose there's lots of things that could contribute to an 'iffy' message:
-Dyslexia or Learning difficulty
-Typo
-PEOPLE BEING LAZY! tut tut! :D
-Illiterate folk.

:D

Maybe they simply didn't have the time, or inclination on this occasion to use a spellchecker?

My OH's daughter is 9 and she is getting bullied at school by other 9 year olds because she struggles with her spelling. It is not through lack of trying her best, or through lack of schooling, but simply because it's not her strong point at school. She is however, very artistic.

I would expect kids to make fun of other kids about such a thing, not grown 'adults' on a forum.

I know how hard it is, my 11 year old brother is dyslexic and gets bullied quite a lot. I do think it's unfair and he is really smart other than spelling!!

My daughters horse isn't pretty to look at... If I was being picky her head is too big, her lip droops and dribbles a little, her ears have made me suspect she's part donkey and she is a monster when is season... But, we adore her... Her beauty is her personality. She's a proper leg in each corner type who is never sick or sorry... I'm so glad that when I went to view her I seen past her quirky looks...

She's aready stated she's 41 so not young, Just ignorant, self obsessed and stupid.

Well she wouldn't be the only one who appears ignorant on here then.

There are many reasons why she could have simply spelt 'dunn' incorrectly (for the love of god it's only one letter!).

Also, if you think that everybody who struggles with spelling is 'ignorant and stupid' then you are a very blinkered individual.

I am actually 41 and not a teenager looking for something to match my nail varnish. Just wondered politely if anyone else has ever had a dilemma where they do not appreciate the looks of a horse even though it fulfills your expectations in other ways.

FWIW I don't like ugly animals (in general), I did once have a very plain horse with a big common head (and I mean really big and really plain), but bizarrely he was the most photogenic horse I have ever owned, I was given him by a friend and he was outstanding at everything but I would never have bought him because he was ugly/plain/common to my eye.

I would say take some pictures of the horse and show people to gauge their response, if you can live with their reaction then go for it.
(Oh and ignore the fluffy brigade it's not their money that's paying to keep the horse ;) )

Yes it is heartbreaking actually to see how upset she gets. Kids will be kids I suppose and will make fun from time to time, but still doesn't make it any easier for the child concerned, or their parents/families.:(

I know, it's hard when he struggles with homework and just breaks down. Simple things and it just frustrates him, it's heartbreaking. :(

Oh god not Parachute causing trouble again:eek: haha;)

Oh not you Miss LA ;) Hello old friend :D

I do think that a horses looks are important.

I couldn't stand to look at an ugly horse every day.
If I was given a dun I would refuse it point blank, however that is just my taste and everyone is different.

I don't think that the suggestion that the OP posts pictures of the horse is a wise idea. This horse is for sale and the seller would probably be very offended if they saw their horse on a post about ugly horses.
