for anyone interested...

following my post the other day asking if anyone else had put the top stable door onto the bottom... we bit the bullet and did it...!

My hubby took the top door off, rehinged everything, and hung it on the bottom.

Little Piggle loves it! At last he can see out!

Here's a photo... please note, my darling husband built the stables and barn himself - with no previous experience... so be nice!

you know sometimes when people post pics, and someone says 'is that step below the maximum 3.5inches as recommended by the BHS?' (i made that one up) or 'what happens if Iggle did a handstand near the door, would he get his leg caught in his haynet?' (i made that one up too) and stuff...

little iggy loves his new door. though he lost most of his haylage over it this afternoon cos he kept popping his head over whilst chewing...

Your hubby has done a lovely job with the stables - did they come in a kit form? Or has he done it plank by plank?

it was a sort of kit form... basically, we found a place that delivered and erected stables. their quote was out of budget so we said 'what if we did the erection?' (hehehe) and they knocked quite a bit off. so... we got the exterior side panels in pretty much 'ready to go' sizes, but the rest was delivered as just bits of wood and sheets of stuff that had to be cut down and stuck together in the right shape/size. two men delivered it, and stayed for a couple of hours to talk through what needed doing (and drink lots of tea). they also helped put up the big main structure as it was too heavy for one person and i had just had a caesarean 4 days previous... but, the rest he did himself. with a blunt saw and a screwdriver. until i forced him to go and buy a proper saw and a drill!

he doesn't like spending money... (whereas i LOVE spending money....

Awww I wish the livery opposite me would try to change her stable door for a lower one. She has a native pony and a shetland cross. The shetland cross got laminitis bad last July and has been kept in his stable ever since. He cant really see over the door. Must be so very boring for him the poor thing. He'd look adorable with his head over a shorter door.
