So I have this idea in my head of what I want to aim towards with my horse, it is a complete pipe dream due to him being off with injury... but we can all dream right? :)

Please no body laugh... My mum did!!

I would like to get him fit and healthy and then aim him towards grassroots eventing, I'm not saying we will ever be good enough to qualify all the way through but id like to have a bash at it! He's more than capable of it, we were being placed at 85-90cm ODE's before his injury and he has scope to burn plus he's a youngster so has age on his side :) Obviously this all depends on how he recovers and what level of work his legs can handle (I'm playing the best case scenario in my head that he never has an issue with this injury again... I'm well aware all my dreams could be shattered in a heartbeat!) and obviously its not going to happen for a good number of years but that is my pipe dream and its helping to keep me sane while he's looking fat and happy on box rest! :)

What are yours??

I didn't laugh, it's good to dream!

I would really love to be able to affiliate BD & go up the ranks, all the way to the top! :D This is coming from a girl who has yet to do her first dressage test - always been into schooling but never managed to get to a test as yet. However fate has led me to having a horse who may be capable of it... or at least part way so I am dreaming of it!

My dream was to get my boy sound enough to affiliate with Dressage Ireland, unfortunately just 3 months after treatment for lameness he is lame again, so I think we are more likely to retire him than to compete! Aw well!

My dream is to compete in endurance with my boy. I've spent a year getting him to hack out safely (he is 16 this year and had never hacked until I bought him last year) and now that we have mastered that we are hopefully taking part in our first fun ride next month and will take it from there!

Can't wait :)

Im so sorry to hear that :(

hey no laughter from me. I think thats a wonderful dream and i hope you live it :) without our dreams where would we be

I agree we all need dreams :)

Ooooo exciting best of luck and we want to see a report with pics!! :)

I would love to do our local ODE this all however depends on me having the confidence because although it is coming back very slowly the thought still terrifies me.

I miss the pony days when nothing fazed me and I could just get on and go non of this well what if this happens and what if this happens, I suppose that is what having kids does to you and non of your dreams are laughable

You all have lovely dreams and I hope they all come true

Like most of you I have dreams that are hopefully easier to reach but

Mine pie in the sky dream is to compete my welsh cob at HOYS.
And or take her up the BD levels

Easier said than done as I'm recovering from yet more surgery on my ankle, it will never be 'good again'. I also suffer rhuematoid arthritis. Along with the fact I never have any help

But that's what dreams are for

I got to the Pony Club Intermediate Eventing Championships on my horse of a lifetime 6 years ago, she was a schoolmaster on loan. I'd like to get there again within the next 5 years with my own self-produced horse, that would be a massive achievement and even more special for me :)
We can all dream..

Everybodies dreams sound lovely i really do hope everyone gets at least one step closer to them this year :)

Glamourpuss why would we laugh? I say go for it and post the pics once your done :D :D

Id love to complete a be intermediate & a cci*
Not on my current mare I am not disillusioned she hasn't enough blood but on another i produce in the future .... I am only 21 so hoping this is realistic !

My pipe dream for lucy would be to do a novice but really il be happy with competing at 100 :)

I want to get to BE80 level one day (in the nearish future).

I bought Barry with the idea of getting that far with him, but he was too big for me (I am not used to being that high up every time I ride!) which didn't help my confidence.

I was going to look for another one straight away. Had a couple I was going to ring up about...then I got offered the chance to work abroad for 3-4 months. I will only have a couple of months funding left on my PhD when I get back, so I will then look for a share and buy once I've got a job post-PhD.

I would love to buy my brothers appy's niece who is two and for sale from the breeders twenty minutes from my house, produce her myself and do long distance rides, I would also like to watch my sister complete her in sj/dr/ode as I am not a competitive person but since we have six already and I am my brothers and mothers carer that is not going to happen.....my other pipe dream is to get published but that is a long work in progress

I'd love to be able to take my girl out hunting one day an not worry for my life :). Mostly I'd love to see my mum affiliate her welsh D in dressage. I also really want her to have the confidence to do a local ODE on him. If any horse will get her there it's him, he's the horse that she got on after breaking her back and pelvis. she thought she'd never ride again. :).

I'd like my confidence to come back enough so that I'm actually interested in mounting up! That's as a 'firstly'. Secondly my major pipe dream which will never happen in this life (or the next, come to that) is to find a horse that is kind and genuine enough to get me round a British Novice track, hack out without trying to kill me, and perhaps have a go at a miniature hunter trial. As I said, not in this life!

Mine is a joint dream with OH - there are a handful of top Standardbred breeders in the UK who are miles ahead of the game in terms of pedigrees and quality of mares and stallions. We both want to work our way up to this 'inner circle', and even though it feels like it's miles away, we're already on our way (with two imported American Broodmares, one proven racemare and one proven aged broodmare). One day we hope to import our own stallion :)

In terms of competing, we both want to win all the top stakes races (Little Welsh Dragon/Dragoness, Sire Stakes, Breeders Crown) and handicap finals and Free For Alls (Welsh Classic, Hurricane Pace/Musselburgh, Crock of Gold) with home bred horses :)

These things may never happen but we can dream right?!

my dream is to get my boy to trust again and get him to a place where he can leave his past behind and live out his days safe with me, happy. Not sure it can be done but I'm fighting for it.

My dream's pretty modest really. I want to make a decent fist of riding a few novice tests this summer. We've been doing pretty well at prelim for the last 2 years and we are now working with a great new instructor who thinks we can do it, so here's hoping. If I don't at least try I'll never know if I can do it. My boy is a chunky hairy highland so not ideal dressage material, but he's a real worker and tries his socks off, so we'll give it a go ....

No sniggering from me about everyone else's dreams. Go for it and good luck to you all.....

TO get to MK eventing centre and pop a few small XC jumps :D Fingers crossed Ned gets better soon and we can do it!!

Also take part in the HHO meet up, with horse!

But really, just to get out and about and have some fun!!

What a fun thread!

For my mare, I would love to bring her to a point where we were competing seriously in dressage. I do believe she at least has the ability; whether I could keep up is another story!

For my gelding, I'd like to get him hunting. He's a good, solid, sane boy so I think that dream is doable.

For both of them, I want to own a property somewhere with a good big pasture with lots of lush grass!

So lovely to see everyone's dreams :)

I'd like to get my two girls to at least elem dressage and my boy doing ODE's. To do this I need to be better at riding, conquer my jumping demons and be able to afford a lorry.

My ultimate pipe dream would be to have a house with land so I can keep my guys at home. I'd love to be able to wake up and see them in the garden, or go to see them late at night for a good night cuddle.

My original one has always been to ride down the centre line in tails (and crash hat, not top hat!!)

But my new pipe dream would be to have my own horse again. Although I'm thinking pony of 14.2 with the idea to make it into the perfect 14.2 for my daughter, IF she ever wants to ride lol. I've done it before with my old boy who I sold to a pony club home and he was pony club horse of the year at their branch last year. Proud much!!

So down the centreline on a 14.2 (Connemara?) in tails!!! Anyone know if someone who has done that lol??

My dream is to get a homebred/hone reared doing a clear round workers HOYS Qualifier it may well come true this year as the Connie I have just sold is jumping 120cm at home and the baby highland is managing a course at 80 and the odd 95cm jump at home so maybe I particularly dont want them to actually qualify although it would be wonderful as I cant afford to do the rest of it and I think at their tender years the final may be a bit beyond them atmosphere wise but I really would love them to jump clear and well

I'd love to be able to be decent enough to compete BD Prelim level and I'd love to be able to do some more showing, i.e hack classes :)

I have a couple: one is to do some fun rides/local working hunter classes with my boy and the second (and less likely to ever happen) is to have my own small yard with school and round pen.

I'd love to event with my boy too :)
But considering he's 15, fractured his cannon bone last summer and I'm too nervous to jump at the moment, it's never going to happen!
