Some of you know that my drama queen needed 3 vet visits in 24 hrs last week because her tummy HUUUUUURT. The first visit was just after midnight, the other two were daytime visits.
Each visit involved a double injection (painkiller and muscle relaxant) she was intubated and examined internally, on the 3rd visit she had 2 vets put their arms inside her. There were also several phone-calls to/from the vets and the daytime vet also spoke to a specialist equine practice about her.
I got the bill yesterday and was really pleased to see that it is less than £500. Bearing in mind that I stopped using this practice in the past, and have complained loud and long, because of their billing system, which always seemed to overcharge/double-charge, I was very impressed. And I'm delighted to say that Drama Queen is fine now. :D
I shall actually be telling people now how cheap this practice is, lol!;)

That's good all round.

Perhaps the complaints have worked. A practice can't change if they aren't aware of a problem - no matter how small I'll always flag issues up so they know rather than blindly believing that everything was perfect.

A less-than-expected vets bill is always nice!
I shelled out £120 for a mite injection last month, and she's having another on friday!! My last vets were throughly pants, like getting someone else to hold my horse without my permission:mad:, billing me for seeing a horse which was in the field at the time of visit:mad: and giving me appointments which were "some time in the afternoon"!! This one is dearer but appointments are "between 12pm and 12.30pm" which makes life sooo much easier!:)

I started the year with a Sunday night choke! Several hours of tubing, all sorts of injections and a weeks worth of Danillon and anti bios - I wasn't expecting to see much change from £500, however it has come in at £360. OH can't see why I am pleased though!!!

That was nearly as good as mine.

I fell out with this practice in the past, amongst other things, because when they changed to a computerised billing system (you can tell how long ago), they were charging twice for some treatments, sending bills to the wrong address and sending bills for nimals they hadn't seen. I was also unimpressed with a couple of the vets. One I still refuse to have on the yard and the other has now moved on.

My preferred vet is a one-man practice and nigh impossible to get hold of in an emergency but he does acupuncture, so I want to keep in with him as well - going to have to juggle somewhat I think!

cib - your experience sounds like my previous ones!

iml, I paid about £200, last time, I think for vet pts a couple of years ago.

PJ, they certainly knew! I hadn't been near them in almost 20 yrs but got desperate about 2 years ago in an emergency. TBH i was a bit surprised that they came out then, so all credit to them.
