I'm starting to jump Molly regularly again - for two reasons
  • I need to do it, I can't leave it hanging over me :)
  • Shes very fat :L She needs to lose about 2/3 girth holes :L

So I'm taking it slow but in truth , she much better . She used to run out a ton but sunday she went over everything first time :D
So I'm really after any advice or critisicm , I know theres a lot we have to work on ( like my leg position or stop pulling back but I would really appreciate an independant review :D

I've also notice I tipp forward quite heavily in transitions and I dont want to keep balance via reins etc?

Thank you,means a lot <3

Your pony is very cute, but I would be concerned about her weight - I know you're aware of this, and you're trying to up work by jumping to combat it, but I think you should consider other methods - e.g. muzzling / restricting grazing more than at present? Also I'd recommend weight taping her, rather than gauging her weight by girth holes ;)

That said, the jumping is nice, haven't got much cc as there's nothing too bad I could see - just be sure to be consistent with your release. :)

Oh , I know, i just didnt have the figures etc come to mind. The YM is putting her in a restricted paddock and shes in during the day , I'm not just jumping her , its just thats the bit i wanted cc on .

that's fine then - but from your original post, I have no way of knowing if you're a muppet who doesn't think obesity is a problem or if you're actually doing something about it. We do have something of a responsibility to make the point, really - and since you have the matter in hand, nothing's lost :)

As I said before, jumping cc, looks ok, pony seems to be enjoying it which is always good!

You and your pony look really good together! I think you ride really well and with lots of confidence and enthusiasm.
For me I would suggest some flatwork lessons as you pull her into the outside and the corners with your outside rein whereas it would make life loads easier if you could use your inside aids to keep her out and into the corners - Im not sure if thats something you have learnt or not yet?
Think of having a bend in your elbow if possible and controlling the tempo of your pony with your body rather than the reins or heels.
Try and learn where take off will be, by maintaining a steady canter try and see (count down from 3 or 2) when you will take off so that you eventually know where to put her which wont matter so much at the moment but will serve you well when you move on and the jumps get higher.
Hope some of that helps or vaguely makes sense x

Not half bad for someone who hasn't jumped in a while. I'd recommend keeping the same gait all the way into the jump, ie. if you're going to canter in then pick up the canter at the corner but one away from the jump, just so that you don't risk upsetting her striding etc.
Other than that, very nice. Sometime you over fold (I do it too,) so just remember that you're not jumping 5foot!!

She's so cute! Looks like she enjoys it and is keen. A bit of flatwork to inmprive your corners would help you and once she has lost weight it should become easier too. Not a lot wrong with your position, just keep your heels down and look up.
