My poor boy is having a time of it. His heels have been left to grow without proper trim and toes to long last time. He's now lame and worse since having a radical trim a week ago (advised by vet). Had X-rays today nothing really seen. Vet seems to think that clamping may be responsible for lameness - front shoes coming off. I really just want to find a really good remedial farrier that has the horses best interests at heart.

Shoeing may not be the answer. Often it causes more problems than it solves. Sorry I don't know any farriers in the area you are asking about. Why did his feet get into this state? Is it your current farrier's fault?

Phone avonvale vets and ask who they recommend for remedial shoeing.
If not give Gary Oliver and call and ask him, he def does this area.

Gavin has the reputation for the remedial work.. Never used him, but he has always been highly recommended..

Barry is his dad.. I'd steer clear from my experiences..

Ed Walton... Not sure if he covers that way but worth asking him. He has done my horses for past 15 years & my equine specialist orthopaedic vet said how perfectly balanced his hooves were & good shoeing work. He will do what is best for your horse.

Hi Everyone ,

I would really recommend using Rugby Farrier www.Rugbyfarrier.co.uk

His name is Tommie and is very knowledgable and calm and patient with all the horses. He travels to all outer areas of Rugby , including Daventry.... Brinklow... Harbury etc
