First things that have come to my head are to turn the radio on as loud as possible to drown out the sound or stuff ears with cotton wool and stick a fly veil over the top. If it's the sight of them that is winding him up the maybe close top door/cover windows in black bags

if the vet has already been not sure there is much more you can do apart from make sure the stable is as safe as possible i.e. big bed plenty of hay etc. If he is really going nuts maybe worth another call to the vet to see what they think. hope things calm down

Thanks guys. He's a bloody big horse. Already had my mate on her back tonight.

Send the neighbours the vets bill

Close the top door, radio up. Nothing else you can do other than wait for vet to come and top up the sedation

Charlie used to throw proper cob fits and would be dripping in sweat, shaking and run round his box kicking the door as well. Only the vet could sort him out over the door as too dangerous to go in with him.

Be careful and good luck x

To be honest, although in the ideal world people would inform yard owners if they are having displays nearby, people who don't know much about horses don't realise they might get scared. It's up to yard and horse owners to prepare for displays nearby.

Turn the radio up, cotton wool in ears etc. Fireworks should be calming down by now worst should be over

Agree with above, turn radio up and cotton wool in ears, then leave alone, it can cause them more stress, and make them think something is up if you keep checking which is out of their normal routine.

Hope he is ok.

I have every sympathy. My yo did small informal display last night so most of us went down yard to make sure our horses were ok. If I had known that they did display every year I would never have moved there .I really like yard and yo but my horse is priority.Fortunately my nervous mare stood and watched although she was offended by the bangs. There is another big cob on yard that was shaking like a leaf and really stressed it was horrible to watch ,we were laughed at for being over cautious with our horses

Hope horse and owner are both ok

I spent most of the night in the stable with my TB on thurs, and had to keep making a huge fuss of him, while I was in stable with him he was fine but if i went to make a fuss of the shetties the TB got all wound up again, did work out that he was ok with the fireworks that went bang but he hated the ones that made the screeching sound for ages.

Sorry not much help really

Just noticed you posted at 11pm?
Are they still having fireworks? I'm sure you are not supposed to after 11 so phone police???
Cotton wool in ears, radio or if not possibly and don't laugh.. sit outside stable singing to him or reading!!
Yep-had to do that in the past.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

Horse was still fretting in the morning. Vet advised 2 hourly checks through the night and he was a nervous wreck.

Someone clicked at him on sunday and it set him off again.

Lots of patience required for this one me thinks.
