A fellow livery has a very poorly dog that needs some help.

Ben, is a lovely ex-racing greyhound who was one of the lucky ones to make it into a loving home.

However Ben is very poorly and needs specialist treatment. His insurance wont cover it so the owners are faced with a dilemma, either find the cash or send Ben over the rainbow bridge.

The people at Perry Barr Retired Greyhound Trust (where Ben was from) have started a 'just giving' page with hopes that kind hearted people will donate a pound or two towards Bens treatment.

I dont really like asking but if any of you can help please do, it is a very good cause (and unlike the RSPCA donations, every penny here actually gets spent on Ben)

Thank you for reading xx

I understand, and please please dont feel bad for not donating. I only want people to donate if they really want to, not through guilt tripping.

Just wanted to share the link as the more people that see the more likely it is that small donations may trickle in.

What's actually wrong with him?

Tbh, I'm such a sucker for donating that I find myself out of pocket, which, until I get paid on Monday, I find myself (again) out of pocket for the amount I give to charity atm.

Posts like this make me feel awful as I don't have the spare money to donate.
However if it was my own dog I wouldn't dream of asking strangers!

I understand this opinion but I figure if you dont ask, you dont get. You may get 100 people look at the page and if 98 of them dont want to donate then thats fair enough, but you would still get 2 people who feel they do want to donate and that small donaton could be the difference between affording it or not.

:)

Sorry, I have to agree with other posts. I'm a firm believer that if you can't afford to care for them, you shouldnt have them (same goes for children!).

What is wrong with the dog? (find it odd it doesn't say on the giving page?!)

Why won't the insurance cover it?

Any reason why the owners can't put it on a credit card etc? It is what most people do when they are desperate.

I cant answer these, sorry. I am just posting this for a fellow livery. I only know sketchy detail about it myself, was just trying to help.

Dont shoot the messenger! :o

not your fault. But something about this seems very suspicious. Either passing the buck or not genuine.

oh no it is absolutely genuine, that I can guarantee. I have met the dog and he is a real sweetheart but I dont see the owner very often as our horsey shifts dont regulalry overlap so hence dont know exatcly what dogs diagnosis is etc.
