Another glorious day in mid wales, but not doing my fields any good. The hill field which was green and lush only a few weeks ago is now burning off, and paddock rotation a waste of time as no grass is growing back once grazed.

We have one small paddock left with any good grass in it, but once that is gone, we are scuppered without any significant rain, which there is none of in the 14 day forecast.....

Anyone else in the same boat and want to join me in a rain dance?!

I've been dancing in North Yorkshire, will continue to do so. Streams dried up two weeks ago, been carting water for farm stock. Had some welcome rain yesterday, but need more. Ground is baked hard and cracked with some areas burned. We're on limestone here.

I'm a dance teacher, and enjoy ethnic dances and cultural dances, and there are a good few rain dances around!!

Look on You Tube!!

I'm gonna do one.........

My place right now is like a dustbowl, ground is hard as iron, can't so much as get a leccy fencing pole in the ground.

All the farmers round here (Devon) are needing rain. Absolutely crazy after the lousy winter we had too.

Blow it West too please.. So far, in May (supposedly winter!) It has rained ONCE. Just enough to get my grass starting, but nothing since and it's dying now :(

Same here, west Wales, I walked round my field yesterday and nearly cried at the state of it, it's just dead grass and dust. The met office forecast says 50% chance of a light shower on Saturday but it's going to take a lot more than that to get the grass growing again. I'll never whinge again about having to put the horses on diets and fence off areas in the field because there's too much grass....you don't what you've got 'til it's gone.

Off to dance and plead with the rain gods.

Yes definitely need some, there were supposed to be some light showers today but new forecast says not. We’ve really suffered the last couple of years as it’s been so dry and our fields are not recovering properly for the next year.

Well, I'll give it a go here in West Somerset but a bit stiff these days so less of a dance, more of a shuffle. I only need it for my garden but I do feel for the rest of you.

We have rain in Manchester! Albeit a small amount, but it’s here. I’m glad really, the amount of dust and hard ground is making things hard work!

We could do with some too! I don't need more grass for my two fatties, but the ground is like concrete and I always worry a lot when it doesn't rain for a significant period. It feels like there is no balance in our weather at the moment - none stop rain through till March, then barely anything for two months!

Well done guys, it worked !!! We had a shower overnight, just enough to dampen the dust, but better than none. Possible showers fri and sat am but not holding out much hope for a good soaking.

Agree re hay worries - like we haven't enough on our plates atm.......:(
