Sorry this is a bit of a pointless one - but I've just had a really nice day with my horse having beaten the rain and wind and had a really nice schooling session.
My boy and I don't really like schooling and he is usually very strong and argumentative but I couldn't face any more mud so I thought I'd give it a go! He went beautifully, light and collected without having to even ask him!
And then seeing him content in his field with a big bale of haylage was a lovely end to the day.
What have you been up to with your horses/ponies today?

A friend leant me her horse today so I could hack with my sister. Great fun and really nice to do all the 'chores' that I don't normally get to do as I don't own a horse. Thanks to both friend and sister.

Despite another horrible wet and windy morning, my son and I managed a hack late this afternoon in the sunshine!

Made the world feel a better place.....

I had a lesson this morning in the howling wind but enjoyed it. I got the horse going well more quickly than I have done before and I think that my riding is improving slowly. We had some good quarters in, some okish walk pirouttes, leg yield and counter canter loops and ended with some good trot work. Then I came home, did a bit of housework but mainly stayed in bed reading with the cat. A good day!

I have just detangled the 2 yr old's mane. I haven't been able to do anything with it for a while, what with the weather and the darkness and it was a terrible tangled mess of wind-plaits. She stood eating her hay as good as gold, looking over her shoulder at me occasionally and as a bonus, her mane looks much better.

I gave T'Khasi a good scratching session prior to grooming him :) Then watched him chasing robins in the field, lol. Young horses are fun.

I spent it sat in A&E after dislocating one finger and fracturing another :( All splinted and strapped up and unable to do much as its my right hand and of course I'm right handed!

I clipped my horse today and someone said that he looked nice. Why am I pleased? Because my clipping is awful.

The first time I clipped the YO said it was a good job it was winter because my horse would be covered up with rugs and no one could see the clip!

Today, I was quite proud of it!!

Glad to hear most of you have good days! Bertolie - Poor you, how did you manage that? Daydreamer - Sounds like you'd put my 'schooling session' to shame, I was very pleased with cantering a 20m circle without having an argument!

Got wet and muddy once again. Tried and failed to start lorry that was meant to be going to be plated on Monday and hung on for dear life as my horse bronced down the road in the rain and howling wind. Remind me why we do it?!?

Mucked out the stables and barn. Fed them, carted hay for what seemed like most of the day.
I got bit on the shoulder for my trouble when horse got carried away trying to grab the hay before any of the other horses.
Hopefully I might get to enjoy a ride on one or two of them tomorrow.

Took Dublin and candy show jumping at local indoor centre, but it rained for Wales the whole three hours we were there, and no shelter in the warm up, the girls did well Dublin got first and second and a third in the inter, novice and open, but we were soaked through, and so cold, took one horse home before last class cos she was shivering so much. Even though had a rug on. Just warming up now with fire roaring and horses tucked in bed .

First ride after 3 weeks box rest due to recurrent abscesses. Not only was he sound, there was no silliness and we stayed dry :)
Just need to get him fit again. The ground was very wet though, most fields had a current flowing through them.

I manged to dust off the tack and hack out which was nice, he enjoyed getting out too we had barely made it off the drive and he was cantering down the lane full of the joys of spring. Only had two spooks nd he went very nicely 99% of the time. Ive been working on his canter leads and leg yields and transitions.as he is still very green but he was very very good today and didnt even nap passing the local riding school.
He is starting to bulk up nicely after having serious muscle wastage and weight loss from serious scouring a his yard. And his fitness is really improving so today I'm happy with his progress it doesnt feel like we are going backwards for once.

To top it off the first lamb of the year arrived this morning and shes adorable and I didnt have to deliver her which is always nice.

:D :D :D

Took both of mine out for a graze in hand, they were good boys.

Had a lesson on Bilbo in the HOWLING gale and he was perfect. Only had him 6 weeks but love love love him! :D

Whilst mucking out stable no.6, realised I had been pulling up my jeans all morning becuse I had lost some weight! Trouble is I'll need some new jeans. Every silver lining has a cloud...........................

My happy news for today is that 6 months after my poor girly suffered facial paralysis she has started blinking properly today!! I have spent 6 months putting eye drops in which started with 4 times a day and has steadily been reduced with more movement returning. She started the occasional proper blink 1 month ago which has gradually increased and today she is fully fixed! Just her droopy mouth to return to normal now! :-)

That is fantastic news, congratulations.

No horses today, but...

I am currently in a safari tent in the middle of the North West Province, in South Africa. My amazing fiancé organized us a weekend away at a private game lodge, in a luxury safari tent which has an actual floor and a real bed. Candles and roses and wine too :-) It's PERFECT!

We've been driving around a day, seeing all sorts of amazing animals. And now I'm off to bed, if the pesky zebra will keep quiet a bit!

Today I chased sheep! .Not normaly considered a fun pastime (except possibly in wales .and then only the pretty ones!)Done my horse ,going home, phone call from owner of next door riding school. Mike there are sheep all over Epsom Downs. So I set off in hot pursuit, couldnt find the farmer as he was watching rugby at Twickenham. So went and found the downs ,park ranger and asked him how long he had been keeping sheep?:D:D Dragged the poor begger out to help (he was going off duty:D) But bless him he had a sense of duty .
We gotbthem all off the gallops and into some semblence of( a very begrudging ) flock when the shepherd arrived. He clearly reccognised me ,but couldnt put a name to the face ,and neither could I . Introductions were made and I realised that he was the son of an old friend ,now long gone, and that our paths hadnt crossed for 27 years.I enjoyed my "sheep wrangling" it has been many years since I kept sheep. I also enjoyed renewing old and ,as I had thought , long gone aaquaintences and friends.

Telling people you have had a good day is never pointless Jo :D I had a pleasant trip to the gym and bought a movie I am about to watch x

Managed to long rein my girl as there was no wind and it was daylight when I was at the yard (having the two happen together is very rare and she's an idiot in the wind or dark at the moment, likely to do more damage than good) and had a brilliant session, by the end she actually trotted through the trotting poles rather than evading or leaping them.

I went to view a horse, first horse I've looked at to buy in nearly 2 years after losing my boy... Nothing surprises me in the fact that a lot of misleading information was given about the horse and needless to say not suitable!
Been offered a gelding I've been riding for a friend at end of month to take on! I'm excited but also umm'in and arr'in as to whether I 100% want another! Arghh!
