F.C. -"I think I just need to admit defeat".

Don't be so hard on yourself, please do not think you have been defeated, you have investigated above and beyond, found the probable cause, after professional people said it was a training issue. You are now making plans to protect her from further harm, if you get your own land a home for life, or the difficult decision of pts when it is time.

You are not a defeatist you are a strong person.

Problem is she has a suspensory problem too at the mo, so isn't sound on that. She is also a literal saint and if it does hurt she really shows very little in terms of signs of it hurting. All her signs of being uncomfortable have always been smaller, quieter. She hasn't ever tried to drop me, buck or rear. She gets upset and flustered occasionally but hard to put it down to pain or lack of understanding as she is still quite green given her lack of work.

With such limited feedback from her, it is quite difficult to pinpoint the actual source of pain and use things like nerve blocks. She has seen so many different vets who thought she was fine when in reality she was anything but.

ETA: sorry quoted the wrong person! 🙈🤦‍♀️

Thankyou. I think it will always feel a little like defeat, after you've made plans and have a dream of what you'll achieve together. That said, I feel very grateful to have the means to have treated her the way I believe all horses deserve to be treated.

And if anyone takes anything away from her tale, I hope it is that you know your horses best and if they're telling you they're not right, you're not crazy even if the professionals think you are!

Would she be a good companion? I’m in exactly the same situation with my mare. She’s only 7 but I’m lucky enough to have the land to bring her home from livery so I’m looking for a kind friend for her.
Although possibly wouldn’t work if she’s a good doer as mine is the opposite!
