Hi everyone
I need some poles for groundwork and maybe if I am feeling brave some teeny weeny jumps - literally pole on two bricks high....;. I am happy with either plastic or wooden and have been looking for secondhand as happy with being tatty /mismatched etc as only used in the corner of my field as I don't have a school and anything "attractive" may get pinched. I found a set of 8 new plastic poles for £200 which I would have been happy to pay but the delivery was another £187.....
I am in Surrey and all the suppliers seem to be hundreds of miles away hence the huge delivery cost.
Does anyone know anywhere local to Surrey or any other ideas for cheapish poles? I look on "Gumtree" etc

Cheap poles! Go to your local timber merchant. Mine is approx £12 for 3/4 inch 12ft poles. If they’re local they may deliver for free. I paint mine myself with paint from wilkos. ?
yup this
plastic poles are hopeless for ground poles unless they have wood inside IMO, they just scatter as soon as the horse nudges then.
I got a load of 12foot poles from local timber place and painted them myself.

Totally agree go for wood. We have plastic at my rda and even our more active horses just knock them all over the place.

Thanks everyone - I never thought of a timber merchant! I will be contacting one tomorrow. Thanks also for tip of timber rather than plastic.
